My beautiful, curious, heart-led bird just turned TWELVE! What a wild chapter of life. That one thing that everyone always whispered when you were in the depths of being sleep deprived and spread so thin just happened - they grew up too fast. What a gift you are Harlow Macallan. You show up for everyone around you and you do so with a twinkle in your eye and humor in your smile. You’re so darn smart. You always have a book grasped in your fingertips and music serenading you in your room. A silent assassin on the lacrosse field and the consistent joy that fills each room. What a gorgeous pleasure it is to watch you grow up Harlow. Every stage has been a favorite but this one is truly breathtaking.

March 27th, 2026 • This man and his massive heart. We lost an absolute legend. I was lucky enough to call this man my father-in-law. A gorgeous force of energy that engulfed every room he entered. He made everyone feel special, effective and seen. He’s the only person on the planet that told the same story 78 times and nobody dared to stop him from the repeat performance. Why? Because it was a classic. A life changer. A story that you will be honored to repeat one day. He always greeted with a “well hey sweetie” and an ear to ear smile that made me feel like the most important person in the world. A gentleman. A listener. An example. A mentor. A down right incredible human. The world just lost the last of a dying breed. The most incredible husband, father, grandfather, friend, commodore and Woboss. In the world of father- in-laws, I just lost the ultimate. What a gift you were Pat and what a gorgeous gift you left me with in your son Chris. In this photo I can see Chris’ reflection and it’s such a reminder of the legacy you left in this world. The thing that always mattered most to you….family.

We will forever feel your warm presence under the dim pirates den lights and see you dancing in the rays of sunshine that reflect on the sea.

It was an absolute honor to adore you Pat…

I don’t know that I’ve ever had a more profound balloon order - NINETY. There have definitely been milestones but I don’t think I’ve ever been more proud of my Safeway balloon order on October 19th in Whitefish, Montana. Harlow and I marched through that slightly packed parking lot with massive smiles on our faces and a fist full of ribbon dripping from our grip. Proud. So darn proud to delicately shove that monumental balloon order in the back of my car. What a gorgeous privilege to assume the rights of Nana’s ‘perfect’ day.

To my quiet tribe…You know who you are. I’m lucky enough to have humans that show up for Nana (us) at all times. To them it’s not a chore, it’s a historic escape and it’s beautiful. Some show up with a hug and the gift of good company. Others show up with sleeping babies and a blueberry scone. There are toddlers that come by to show off their toys to a very willing audience and of course there are the kids that have grown up on Nana’s hidden biscuit stash and a mini can of ginger ale that’s always chilling in the fridge. Flower crowns at dinner and high tea to visit her last surviving friend in Canada. A mailbox of vintage black and white photos and birthday cards and every imaginable British treat from our lovely family members over the pond. Her days are always “perfect” because of you.

June 18th - It’s taken me a few days to marinate in this new forced chapter of life. It’s strange to mourn something that is just becoming more beautiful with each Season. My dream boy with his massive beating heart that sits so stoically on his sleeve just turned thirteen.

He swiftly walks by the toy isle at Target and flips past the channel with his favorite old cartoon blaring. The plastic cups and plates that are now faded and chipped have been shoved to the back of the cabinet. There’s one less child in the long line to sit on Santa’s knee and Kickee Pants footed pj’s are a faded laundry basket memory. There’s a new table reservation request - “three adult menus and one children’s please”

When I close my eyes he’s skipping with his lunchbox in an American apparel baseball shirt or wearing his Darth Vader costume to the grocery store just because it was a Tuesday. An acoustic version of ‘Surfer Girl’ is being strung confidently to the neighbor girls and a Radio Flyer Landspeeder just clips my ankles as he zips by me on our morning walk.

A gorgeously full chapter has just concluded and I feel honored to flip the page by his side. He may no longer be able to sit on my lap but he’s my consistent hugger just because and a spontaneous “I love you Mom!!” shouted across a crowded room. This young man bleeds kindness and love and he just makes everything better and beautiful.

My 11:11am dream boy just jumped heart first into his teenage years and I couldn’t be more proud and excited to witness this next chapter.

Not a word in this world could define my bird. I’m speechless when challenged. She’s a pulse of quiet consistency that’s slow and steady and keeps you alive. She’s a belting rendition of her favorite song in the shower and a flameless candle under the sheets to read her favorite book after bedtime. I see the stuffed animals being placed carefully in drawers and the lip gloss on her highest of shelves and it’s just so wild. My baby. My tiny little NICU Birdie just got irreplaceably big. This year calls for a baggier jean, elevated sneaker and the occasional rolling of eyes. I can carve through the nonsense and see her standing so beautifully on the other side. Slightly taller in her baggier jeans with a fresh coat of lipgloss and a wink before rolling her eyes. It’s an absolute pleasure to be your mama Harlow Macallan. Birdie just got all sorts of ELEVEN.

The gorgeous art of ‘catch up.’ I worship our slow and steady time together as a family of four. Siblings being best friends and the chance to date my husband again. In the chaotic season of life we find ourselves in, I live for these moments with salt on our skin and ‘time’ being our ultimate goal.
