there are so many different reasons to pick up a book, and i wanted to put together some recommendations for each one because not every reading mood is the same. what’s your reason for reading?

if being perceived was an olympic sport, i’d come last, so here’s me hiding behind a book and calling it content!!

bookstagram really is the perfect hobby for introverts & i am living proof of that, so here’s the poses i usually do when it’s time to take photos with my books.

also can you tell i never know what to do with my hands? by @courtyardreads

i might be considered a slow reader on bookstagram but irl i get this question a lot. it’s not really a matter of speed but a matter of habit, i don’t read fast i just read often!

and the best hack for that is the most repeated one here: just bring your book everywhere. and whenever you feel like looking at your phone, read instead. by @courtyardreads

i was so sad i wasn’t traveling (spent way too much money in japan earlier this year) and keep doing this series and then i realized... i live in madrid.

i honestly must have visited at least 10 incredible bookstores in madrid but here’s 4 i’ve been loving lately. i’ll definitely do a part two if that’s something you guys want. this city is bursting with literary places, and after 5 years i have a lot to mention lol.

it’s a bank holiday today so i might have to start that part 2 today 👀 by @courtyardreads

not every classic deserves a spot on your tbr, and i’m prepared to defend that opinion!! especially if you’re just getting into them

here are 5 popular classic books i think are absolutely worth your time and hype, plus 2 i’d skip for now.

the irony of me, a proclaimed slow reader, telling you to read a book in two days is not lost on me. but i know people that can manage it, so here’s some short book recs to get ready for the upcoming weekend.

in the other side of the spectrum - the 800 pages book i am currently reading - i only have around 200 pages left. i am excited to pick up some spooky books afterwards. thinking of a carmilla re read, picnic at the hanging rock and/or american psycho.

second post in the monthly syllabus and i’m soooo happy to announce it’s spooky and women centered!

i saw lili reinhart is trying to get a vampire lesbian books adapted to tv so here’s my little post to help her cause since i was very entertained by bury our bones this summer and i have a suspicion that’s the book she’s talking about.

if you’re looking on what to read this october, give these a go! by @courtyardreads

a bit of east of eden lore from me to you, just in time for netflix’s new adaption.

i am only 1 episode in by the way, but so far i am very pleased with it. zoe kazan really captured the atmosphere from the first few chapters of the book and next episode is cathy so you can imagine my excitement.

save to decide whether to read the book before or after watching it! by @courtyardreads

i started getting into adult literary fiction around 23, and my first book was swing time by zadie smith. i honestly had no idea i was “transitioning” from ya to lit fic, i just picked it up the same way i picked up classics when i was a kid; i was interested in the premise.

after that it was just natural to keep going. so if you want to get into literary fiction, you don’t need to make a huge genre jump. start with the themes and tropes you already love. by @courtyardreads

i haven’t done an intro post since i opened this account (coming soon) but even though i live in madrid i was born and raised in uruguay, latin america. so i thought i’d make a little homage to latin american authors i’ve read and loved, specifically those i found translated to english.

they’re all women by accident but i’m glad i turned out that way. did you read any of these? by @courtyardreads
