POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

8/11/08: Cullen Jones won his first Olympic medal (🥇4 x 100 relay) in Beijing. E 4 yrs. old.

After seeing Cullen exit the pool, E declares: “Oh! He’s brown like me!” and instantly becomes obsessed with swimming.

8/19/08: Two weeks later, he still insists on wearing his “medal” to bed every night.

9/08: E swim lessons at the rec center and can’t wait to flap his arms and jump in the pool for his first lesson.

10/26: Cousin Nelda meets Cullen Jones and tells him the story (…at a FCPS event designed to introduce swimming and water safety to communities where people historically have not known how to swim…but that’s another post). by @cousinnelda

It’s funny because it’s true. It’s 100 years later and I still know exactly where my doll and her adoption papers are! #MatrikaSelina (they did her wrong with that name!) by @cousinnelda
