“The handyman did the electrical. Everything is correct.” 👀

That bare copper jumper connecting neutral to the green ground screw says otherwise. It’s called a bootleg ground, and it can turn the metal housing of plugged in equipment into a shock hazard if the neutral fails.

In a commercial kitchen, shortcuts put people at risk.

Working doesn’t mean wired correctly.

Couve Electric ⚡️ No shortcuts. Done right the first time.

We don’t just install it, we hang on it. 💪 Threaded rod and strut support above the ceiling means this new exam light isn’t going anywhere. Your Orchards vet clinic just got an upgrade! 🐾

⚠️ Is Your Electrical Panel Putting Your Family at Risk?

The Vancouver Fire Department recently shared that a house fire on NE 155th Ave was linked to an overloaded Federal Pacific (FPE) electrical panel. These panels have a long history of breakers that may fail to trip during overload conditions, allowing wires to overheat and increasing the risk of an electrical fire.

As a licensed electrician, I’ve replaced many of these panels over the years. Unfortunately, I’ve seen firsthand burned breakers, overheated bus bars, and panels that simply didn’t provide the protection homeowners expected.

If your home was built in the 1960s–1980s, it’s worth taking a few minutes to check your electrical panel. If you see Federal Pacific, FPE, or Stab-Lok on the panel, don’t ignore it.

At Couve Electric, we provide:
⚡ Panel inspections
⚡ Panel replacement estimates
⚡ Safe, code-compliant upgrades
⚡ Licensed, bonded & insured service

Your electrical panel is designed to protect your home. When it can’t do its job, it’s time to consider an upgrade.

📞 If you’re unsure what panel you have, send us a photo and we’ll help identify it.

Preparation is everything.

The work doesn’t start when the hot tub arrives—it starts days before. Digging the trench, running the PVC conduit, pulling the wire, and making sure everything is ready ahead of time is what makes installation day go smoothly.

This delivery was no easy task. The crew initially thought they could maneuver the hot tub around the side of the house, but after taking a closer look, they realized it wasn’t possible. They came back with a crane and safely lifted the hot tub over the house into the backyard.

Because the electrical was already prepped and waiting, we were able to make the final connections as soon as the hot tub was in place. Proper planning saves time, prevents delays, and keeps the entire project running efficiently.

That’s why preparation is key.

On the hottest day of the year, we decided it was the perfect time to run power to a sauna. Testing it in 100° weather… definitely wasn’t the best part of the job.

When I got the call for this project, it was supposed to be a simple troubleshooting visit with a few electrical corrections. But after opening things up, we discovered the previous tenant had attempted their own electrical work. What started as a small repair quickly turned into a complete knob-and-tube rewire to bring the home back up to modern safety standards.

Sometimes the biggest issues are the ones you can’t see until you start investigating.
