I never thought I could get so attached to these beautiful creatures. I’m so incredibly grateful that I am able to share the water with these beings along with so many open minded humans who have never seen their true behaviors first hand. I’m also continuously grateful for the tribe of divers and conservationists who are constantly fighting for their lives along with the rest of the oceans💙 so much love for you all.

1- jumped in and first thing I said was it looks like tiger shark “water”(conditions)🙏🏼 🙌🏼 the smallest tiger shark I’ve personally seen in these waters🥹
2- quick work up on 1 of the 2 reef sharks
3- one of the many nurse sharks that day🤎
4- samples being taken to learn more about the sharks in the Palm Beach area (thank you little tiger shark🥹)
5- @mobile_scott one of the best captains around, always down for ALL of the deck decorations😅🏴‍☠️✨

We'd love to get on the boat with you next January, May, September, or October for our 3-day Marine Biology Accelerator Program in the Florida Keys. The priority of these programs is training citizen scientists and future marine biologists while collecting publication-worthy data on sharks and other fishes. This is particularly important in the nearshore waters of Big Pine Key, which are likely nurseries for a handful of threatened shark species.

Had a lovely evening with some incredible humans doing some great work for the oceans at the @oceanaseachange event last weekend! Thank you @ochoachristina for inviting me and thank you for everyone being so warm and welcoming🩵

Sharks are beautiful, but also INCREDIBLY vital to our oceans ecosystems🗺️

Earlier this year we went out with @mooreamoanatours in French Polynesia hoping to see some pelagic sharks, and we ended up in the water with SIX oceanic whitetips😱

This was my first time ever seeing one- these sharks are INCREDIBLY rare to encounter off south Florida as their global population has dropped by over 90% due to over fishing and bycatch.

That’s why the conservation work of @maomanafoundation is so important:
•They’re building the first long-term movement and residency data on oceanic whitetips in the South Pacific to understand their behaviors to better protect them
•They work with local captains, fishers, and guides to collect photo-ID and tagging data
• Their research is helping shape real conservation protections for one of the ocean’s most endangered predators
• They provide ecotourism training for operators and community members, teaching safe, respectful shark encounters.
