Over the past 38 years, life and work have taken me to a lot of different places.

I grew up in Cleveland, went to school at Ohio University, and started my career in professional sports sales with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards. I later advanced my career in tech sales in Northern Virginia — where I also bought my first home.

Along the way, I met my wife, lived briefly in Richmond, spent some time away in Illinois, and welcomed our son into the world. As life evolved, so did our priorities, and eventually we found ourselves asking an important question:

Where do we want to build our future?

For us, the answer was Richmond.

Not because it was convenient.
Not because it was familiar.
But because this city feels like home. We believe in the people here, the growth happening, and the kind of life we want to build, both personally and professionally.

So as I step into this next chapter — opening The Ryan Jones Insurance Agency on 7/1/26 in Midlothian — it felt like the right time for a new handle here as well:

36 hours in Brussels was exactly what we needed.

After the marathon crowds, early alarms, and nonstop movement in Berlin, we traded the itinerary for local exploration, good food (Belgium chocolate + waffles 🤌🏽), a spa day, and nowhere to be.

Sometimes the best part of a trip is the part you didn’t over-plan.

It’s easy to focus on milestones.

Opening a business.

Launching something new.

Chasing goals.

But lately I’ve been reminded that life is really made up of smaller moments:

Time with family.

Lunch with your parents.

Picking up your kid from daycare.

Great music.

Date nights with wifey.

Summer evenings.

Those are the moments I’m trying to appreciate a little more.

On June 3rd, I had the opportunity to attend the Los Angeles premiere of a film my father helped bring to life, and starred in, @lastshoponwalnutfilm.

Seeing and being with him on the red carpet was special. But what stood out most was seeing the room itself.

More than 300 people showed up on a Wednesday night in West Hollywood. Friends, family, actors, creatives, and supporters from different chapters of life all came together to celebrate a shared vision. The audience response was incredible, and seeing so many people stay afterward for the Q&A spoke volumes.

Growing up, I watched my father serve our community for years as a public servant. Long before this film, I saw both him and my mother build relationships, connect people, and create opportunities through genuine service and a commitment to others. Those relationships didn’t just help shape a career—they helped bring this project to life.

Watching that unfold was a reminder that the most meaningful things we build are rarely accomplished alone.

As I prepare to open The Ryan Jones State Farm Agency here in Richmond, it’s a lesson I’ve carried with me: show up for people, invest in relationships, and good things tend to follow.

Proud of my father. Grateful for the experience. Inspired for what’s ahead.

Spent a few days in Portland with family and friends and came home with a little extra perspective.

Touring Nike’s campus, seeing the Michael Jordan building, and being around people who are thriving in different stages of life was a reminder that success looks different for everyone.

For some, it’s a career they’ve spent years building. For others, it’s a marriage, a family, a community, or a dream they’ve decided to pursue.

The common thread is intention.

Grateful for the conversations, the memories, and the reminder that the best things in life are usually built one day at a time.

Birthday week in Vegas feels fitting.

A lot of people come here to gamble — meanwhile I’ve spent the last few years betting on myself, my family, and the vision we have for this next chapter.

Grateful for the journey from Cleveland to Richmond and everywhere in between.

Now it’s time to build.

To my beautiful wife/marathoner and corporate baddie - Jordan and I appreciate everything you do daily. You keep us healthy, happy and on the right track, and bring sunshine to our days. We 🖤 you.

To my very own Mommy, I’m so happy you’re retired and able to enjoy life. Your speech at Jessica’s wedding was wonderful and made me cry 🥹 - I love watching you in Grammie mode, and as I commented to you when you were here in April, you haven’t lost a step in terms of your motherly instincts ❤️.

To Jordan’s beloved Nana, you’ve been the best mother in law I could ask for. Almost everyday when I pick up Jordan from daycare, he yells “Nana” the entire ride home 😂. He and I both love you, enjoy your day! 🩵
