Governor Gavin Newsom says that Democratic candidates must be “laser-focused” on affordability concerns, but that they’ve got to “connect the dots” with the economic impacts extreme heat, drought, and other climate impacts are having, in a CCNow-organized newsmaker interview.

“I go out, I talk about [climate] everywhere,” Newsom told CCNow in an interview during Climate Week NYC. “So we have to connect the dots. You have to connect climate risk to financial risk, because it is.”

It’s a mistake for Democratic politicians not to talk about climate change, and the reason they don’t is “because they don’t know how to talk about it,” California governor Gavin Newsom said Wednesday in an interview with The Guardian and Covering Climate Now.

In addition to climate, Newsom also predicted that the midterm elections in November would bring “the end of Donald Trump’s presidency as we know it,” and expounded on a variety of other topics, including whether he would run for the presidency in 2028 if Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez decides to run.  Read more of CCNow’s interview at The Guardian.
