We had a great day experimenting with Obvara Raku (also known as Baltic Raku) with our potter friend!
This technique creates a unique marbled effect on each piece by dipping red-hot pottery into a fermented yeast mixture. No two pieces turn out exactly alike!
It’s frothy, stinky, and HOT! 🥵🔥 But the results are worth it!
Love that Leopard patterning! 🐆 👀

We have our own special way to honor our fallen Queen of Appalachia. She was an Ambassador for Rural America - allowing others to better understand this region and culture. This project was initially started last week, we had no idea that it would become an homage to her life. 🦋

We have been working on a series of Country Legends and will keep you posted!

Merry Christmas from Cowan Pottery!🎅🏼 by @cowanpottery

This set of mugs sold so fast this was the only video I was able to capture. Really like how that glaze turned out. We’ll have to revisit in the New Year.

We had a blast yesterday night doing the Raku Firing with @musigraf & the wonderful folks @cdrframeshop_artgallery who hosted the event. It was a great community collaboration and we hope we get the chance to do another during the summer next year. Thanks so much to everyone who came out and made this such a special event!
