POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Congratulations and happy pub day to @authormaggiefern !! Thank you again for sending me an arc of your wonderful book. This was in my top 3 most anticipated releases for this year.

If you’re after a darkish vampire romance with a MMC that would literally do anything for the FMC this book is for you. I struggle with a lot of dark romances but this fell in my comfort zone while still pushing it a little.

These Eternal Bones was a breeze to read and candy for my brain. The more I sunk my teeth into this the more I loved it. It had me on the verge of tears in the morning while I was on the bus and those spicy moments had me wanting to head the other way back home to my partner.

If you’re after an easy romance with fantasy elements and a MMC with “appendages” you need to add this to your TBR!

Look I was exited to read my first Christina Lauren book…. unfortunately it was not for me. I got 58% of the way through and decided to call it quits.

I found the characters pretty annoying and the humour wasn’t enough to save it for me. I will admit some moments had me laughing. It wasn’t awful but it could have been better and I would rather spend that time reading something else.

I do fear @illumicrate SLAYED this edition. This was on my anticipated releases list so it was a no brainer that I wasn’t skipping this box. The items were all a hit too. Cute picnic blanket (that I definitely need), cute recipe cards (perfectly match my Le Creuset) and a spoon rest (that I also absolutely needed).

I know I already posted this to my stories but it needs a permanent spot in the feed. The New Dawn corner grows!

I tried so hard to like The last Hour Between Worlds but I just couldn’t get past the 50% mark. The premise was so interesting. Alternate realities stacked on top of each other and getting stranger the further down you went. A time loop with high stakes, literally an entire realities fate in the hands of two people. Oh and funny banter. The thing that let me down? The time loop. As a major part of the plot it really let me down. They can be tricky to pull off without being repetitive and this just wasn’t it. We kept going through the same moments time and time again with the two FMC’s making the same mistakes over and over again and I was so frustrated and bored I couldn’t take it anymore.

Yeah look I was a Rachel Gillig hater not gonna lie. One Dark Window missed the mark for me. This was a book club pick and I went into this reluctant and expecting to dislike it. BOY WAS I WRONG. This is hands down my favourite so far for 2025. The banter? Spectacular. The romance? Slow and steady. The plot? Had me on the edge of my seat. It’s almost perfection. I do have a couple of gripes, mainly with the plot and pacing however they are minor and may be something that I get over while reading book 2. I genuinely CANNOT wait for book 2. Slow clap for Rachel, you’ve won me over.

My most recent read was Juniper and Thorn by Ava Reid. Before I say anything about the book PLEASE check the trigger warnings. This book is no joke and touches on lots of heavy topics!!

Juniper and Thorn put me on a confusing journey of whether or not I liked it, by the end I was harassing my friends about the book and in that moment I knew it had sunk its teeth into me. The original reason I bought this book was that it featured Slavic mythology. As a Slavic girly I feel like our stories and mythology are severely underrated and unknown.

Anyway I was so excited to read this but I just wasn’t meshing with it. A couple months go by, I pick it up and absolutely devour it.

Ava Reid’s writing is so beautiful and descriptive, however this is also one of my complaints. Everything is described in such detail that sometimes it’s a little difficult to read and I found myself not fully understanding things. That’s completely on me though, and something I want to work on. Because of this I want to understand every nook and cranny of every page. I already want to reread it and properly annotate and analyse it myself.

That is my only complaint. If you can get past the writing, are okay with the trigger warnings and you want a gothic horror set in a small town being taken over by industrialism with themes of love, sacrifice and familial struggles all tied together with Slavic mythology this one’s for you.

My beautiful bookshelf is back! Most of these have been in storage and it’s made being active on this account a little harder than it used to be. This still isn’t all of them but I’m happy to have most of my babies all together again 🫶📚

Are you kidding??😭 This book was a wild ride from beginning to end. It was hard for me to get into. I don’t usually read a lot of sci-fi and this had me neck deep in the genre. I found that I was trying too hard to understand everything in the beginning and as I got further in I let go of the reins a little. When I did that I was able to enjoy the book much more. I also listened to an audiobook in tandem to reading the paperback and that helped immensely!

Thank the postal overlords that these arrived safe and sound after 3 days in delivery limbo. I had some major fomo with the litjoy set but seeing these in person reminded me I made the right choice. The character art is perfection 👌
