I generally go for mystery, thriller, psychological thriller, small town romance, enemies to lovers and second chance romance. I’m open though to others ♥️

“The Witch” by Freida McFadden

𝕋𝕙𝕖 ℙ𝕝𝕠𝕥

This was such a great spooky read for October!

The book is dual timeline and follows Caroline from the 17th century and Julia in present day. The two women lived in the same house, centuries apart.

Caroline was said to be a previous wife of Julia’s Great Grandfather who was accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake. After her death, Julia’s Great Grandfather married her Great Grandmother who was a maid at the time in their home.

But what secrets linger within the walls and within the ground?

𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤

I thought this was a really great atmospheric book that walked the line of paranormal vs reality.

I felt like this Freida McFadden book had a different vibe to it than many of her others do. Riley Sager is one of my favorite authors and I had to keep reminding myself that this wasn’t one of his books, since his books are formatted in a similar way with the dual timelines paralleling each other.

I did guess part of the plot twist, but for me it was trying to figure out how they get to that end point throughout the story.

Overall though, 4.5 stars!

Photos are from went to Salem, MA a few years ago. I’m headed back soon and this book got me excited for the trip!

🎃🍁October Mornings 🍁🎃

This has been a super busy week with volunteering at my son’s school, birthday parties, swim lessons and work in between all there as well.

There’s something magical though about waking up before the kids do, making a cup of coffee and reading a few chapters of a good book before the rest of life gets in the way 🧡

❓Are you team late night owl reader, early bird morning reader or frantic squirrel trying to sneak in chapters wherever you can reader?❓

📖✨Celebrating One Year of Bookstagram✨📖

One year already 🥰

When I first started my Bookstagram, I truly had no idea what I was doing (sometimes I still wonder🤣).

I in general wasn’t super familiar with Instagram, had no idea how to make reels, and hadn’t ever played around with Canva or any other editing apps. Had no idea how the daunting algorithm worked, or the power of key words and hashtags. I still don’t even remember why I chose Instagram 🤣

I was just a mom, new postpartum who had recently re found her long lost love of reading and decided to jump blindly into the world that is Bookstagram ✨

The Bookstagram community has been amazing though, and I’ve gotten to know so many fellow readers, I’ve gotten an endless amount of book recs that overflow my TBR and have met so many kind hearted fellow Bookstagramers who have hyped me up when I’ve been discouraged or nervous to post the content.

Here’s to another year of figuring out the ever changing algorithm, adding more books than I can keep up with to my TBR and continuing to make wonderful connections.

Thank you all 😘 by @cozychapterlauren

🍁📖September Reading Wrap Up! 📖🍁

September was quite the month!

I definitely didn’t hit a record number of books read, but September was a great experience!

I flew to Texas to go see my good friend which was lovely. While there, we visited the Dallas World Aquarium, my first Buc-Ees and of course Texas Roadhouse!

We also got to ride a vintage train and saw the President JFK Memorial/ assassination site. As a history lover, this was really interesting to see.

On the trip I also got to visit the Chickasaw Reservation in Oklahoma which was gorgeous and so peaceful ☺️

Fun fact: My husband and I have made it a goal to visit all 50 states and so far we’ve been to 33 in our almost 10 years of being married. We’re aiming for 50!

I also got some surprise new songs from Ms Taylor Swift which was a wonderful surprise.

I also started Chapter 32 in this crazy thing called life 😂

September did have some heavy moments as I try and somehow manage working and rushing around to get my Kindergartener on and off the bus everyday and always feeling behind, but that makes me feel even more thankful for my escapes from reality in my books 🥰

I’m loving the Fall weather though and embracing all of it 🫶

❓What was your favorite part of September?❓

📖🍁“Something About September” by Julia McKay 🍁📖

𝔹𝕠𝕠𝕜 ℝ𝕖𝕧𝕚𝕖𝕨

This was a sweet second chance small town romance, perfect for September!

The book follows Rebecca, a woman who left her small town lifestyle for the city and became a college professor. After returning home after her Grandmother passes away, she learns she has inherited her Grandmother’s diner. The diner has been closed for a year, and the city says she either needs to re open the business or sell the building. Every day that the business sits empty is another fine. The building though is in bad shape. In comes Cort, the town’s only construction business owner who has a romantic past with Rebecca.

Will Rebecca be able to set aside her feelings towards Cort for the greater good of her inherited legacy?

𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤

I’m giving this book 4 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the perfect book for a cool Fall day. The author does a great job at setting the scene for the small town with apple orchards, a giant pumpkin contest and the quirky characters of the town. It was like a Hallmark movie in book form.

I also took a few hours to myself at my local library where I knew no one would bother me. My new fave Fall activity 😂

My early morning plans🎃

Sometimes between the running around with the kids, meeting deadlines for work and trying to maintain my sanity, I’ve found setting my alarm an hour early in the morning to get in a little bit of reading time for myself has done wonders 🥰

I’m excited to finally read this, as it’s been recommended to me so many times 😍

It’s the perfect time to read it since the movie is coming out soon! One of the book clubs I’m a part of is already planning to go see it as a group 💜
