NXG SPOTLIGHT - COZY CTRL

Electronic music has never really been about escaping where you come from. It is about finding another language for it.

A Nigerian producer and artist, CozyCTRL describes his sound as “a minimalist blend of Afro sounds with electronic music,” creating music that moves between House, Afro-rooted rhythms and understated electronic production.

His love for House music started back in secondary school during the Pop House wave of the 2010s. Growing up in a musical family and playing different instruments also shaped the curiosity that eventually led him into production.

For Cozy, Nigerian electronic music has room to grow. His answer? “More original Nigerian house music.” He also believes officially releasing more of the Afrobeats-to-House remixes already happening in DJ sets could help push the scene further.
Now, he’s putting the finishing touches on his debut album, a project two years in the making and one that draws inspiration from everyday life, relationships, football, moods and everything happening around him.

CozyCTRL isn’t trying to fit Nigerian sounds into electronic music. He’s building a version of House that already feels like home. ✨
