when I was younger, my relationship with reading felt very different. somewhere along the way, especially in high school, reading became something I had to do instead of something I loved. i honestly lost that part of myself for a while because of school.

i found my way back to books in college during a time when it felt like everything in my life was falling apart. reading became my escape from friendships, relationships, stress, and honestly just life in general. escapism is so real.

looking back now, i can confidently say that every one of these stories holds a special place in my heart because they each found me during a different version of Isa 🤍

Happy first day of fall everyone! 💌🍁 I went to Oktoberfest in Seattle this past weekend, and after those pumpkin spiced ciders, I am SO here for fall.

I wanted to put together a little TBR for my favorite season. I’m such a mood reader, but five books feels manageable while leaving some wiggle room for my Libby holds.

Also, it’s finally Hollywood, Ending release day! I’ve been SO excited for John Green’s new release, so hopefully it lives up to the hype I’ve created in my head 🤭

practical magic 2 screening 💌🪄

this was such a perfect way to spend Wednesday night! I got tickets for paige and I to the early screening of Practical Magic 2 in Seattle, and what a night! such a fun side quest.

the movie brought back some of what I loved about the first one, and it was so nice to laugh, tear up, and be surrounded by people who share a fondness for this 90s classic.

so grateful for this experience (and to paige for agreeing to go with me lol) and can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks! have you seen it already, or are you planning to watch it this weekend? 💓

long awaited post but happy friday!! 💌

I know this was a trend a bit ago, but I got nostalgic thinking about some of these books and thought they deserved a little shoutout on the gram. If I could choose 9 of my top reads, these would easily be my picks!!

I was so deeply touched by each of these stories in completely different ways. I feel like they’ve all helped me learn a little more about myself, and I still think about them LONG after finishing them.

If I could categorize the books that I fall in love with, it would easily be the emotional, gut-wrenching stories that completely consume me. I like having my heart broken by books I guess?

Klara and the Sun ☀️🌻🫧📖

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This story follows Klara, an Artificial Friend who is chosen by a young girl named Josie. Told entirely through Klara’s perspective, we slowly learn about their world and what being human looks like in a society where technology has become a normal part of everyday life.

This might be one of my favorite dystopian/science fiction novels!! I loved experiencing the world through Klara’s naive, childlike perspective and how Ishiguro lets us slowly piece everything together through her eyes.

After finishing this book, I genuinely just sat in silence. It was quietly heartbreaking and left me thinking about technology, love, loneliness, and what makes us human. Such a unique story that I know I’ll be thinking about for a long time. 💓

The movie comes out October 23!! 🎬

an espresso + a book 💌☕️

I finished ‘Into the Blue’ late last night and I have such mixed feelings!! I liked AJ and Noah, and this is one of those books where I can confidently say that I feel like I KNOW these characters so well.

I think my biggest issue was how slow the pacing felt at times and how repetitive the emotional cycle started to feel. I think this book could have been shorter and still had the same emotional impact!! I was so close to DNFing this book around 30% and the more I think of this one, the more I wish that I set this one down and moved on.

That being said, the creativity behind this story and how improv, acting, and storytelling were woven throughout it was something that I haven’t seen done before. I can see how others would have adored it, but unfortunately it didn’t hit the same for me (and that’s okay)! 💌

A solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️ read!!

I picked up this book after seeing an English teacher I was working with reading it, and it immediately caught my attention! We Burned So Bright follows an older married couple who find out that the world is ending in a matter of weeks and decide to go on one final road trip together.

I adored The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune and have been waiting MONTHS for this book to finally become available for me on Libby!! 🥹

sooo….

I accidentally took a little break from posting because I got completely hooked on the Dungeon Crawler Carl series these past few weeks. I’ve still been reading a ton, but I’ve been spending more time on Goodreads and my stories than actually posting here. 🤭

I absolutely INHALED ‘Every Summer After’ back in June, and I’m so excited to start One Golden Summer this weekend.

Do I currently have six Libby loans expiring next week? Yes. Will I still start this one today? Absolutely. 😂

Also… I may or may not have bought new headphones for my audiobook walks. Since I bought the audiobooks for the DCC series, I figured it was time for an upgrade. My babyyyy. 🩵🎧

hello hello ☀️

I keep seeing all of the 9-5 book girl posts and thought I would join in!

I work two jobs as a behavioral therapist, one in schools and one doing in-home ABA. I’m very grateful that I get little pockets of time throughout the day to read. This made my Friday so much more enjoyable, and I had way too much fun documenting my reading progress along the way. 🤓

I also finished The House in the Cerulean Sea last night and absolutely adored it!! 🥰 Every character felt so distinct, and their personalities truly shined through the pages. The found family, the humor, and the character growth completely stole my heart. One of the easiest 5⭐️ ratings I’ve given in a while.

Hope everyone enjoys my silly little day in the life. 💛
