“Out of the darkness come light, like a flash, you think you can you think you can…dream little darling dream”

The past nine years have been rich and full of meaning for me. I’ve had my share of hardship — none harder than losing my father to cancer, watching someone I loved disappear by inches and having to find a way to keep standing afterward. There were long stretches where I felt unmoored, searching for some sense of purpose and coming up empty, wondering if my life meant anything at all. That’s part of life too, I’ve come to understand. But alongside that pain, I’ve also known real joy, and a peace that comes from genuine inner freedom.
I’m surrounded by good friends, and within recovery (and music 🥰) especially, I share a kind of fellowship that’s hard to put into words. These are people I’m truly connected to — first through shared pain and struggle, and later through common goals and a newfound sense of faith and hope. Over the years, working alongside one another, sharing our stories, and offering each other trust, understanding, and love with no conditions attached, we’ve built relationships that are rare and irreplaceable.
The loneliness I used to carry — that deep ache every alcoholic knows — is gone, and it doesn’t have to come back.
In its place, I feel like I belong. I feel wanted, needed, and loved. In exchange for a life built around hopelessness and fear, I’ve been given something far more valuable — a whole new way of living, and with it, the purpose I spent so long searching for. I got sober, the madness is over and now I am proud of who I’ve become ♥️

My first LBV was at Listener Supported in 1999, but this Long Black Veil with Sierra Hull was like a fever dream I didn’t want to wake up from. I sobbed.

Love is not a whisper or a weakness
No, love is strong
So we got to get together @davetimmexico is an incredible experience I am always grateful to be a part of 💕while the world feels heavy at times, I appreciate each and every person I was able to sing, dance, and share a smile with during those 5 days. Sobriety continues to bless me, it truly is amazing what a minute can do 🩷. @moonpalacecancun #davematthews #timreynolds #moon #takechances #buythetickettaketheride by @cpc143

The Marine Corps Marathon 2025- I ran this race in memory of my father Robert Cardoni as well as to raise money for @semperk9. This incredible organization raises and trains service dogs for wounded veterans and provides loving care to military members that continue to need physical AND mental support. As ALWAYS a very special thank you to my family that brought signs, jolly ranchers, waters, hugs, and #love to every inch of the 26.2 miles. This journey of life certainly has its ups and downs and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue to show up for others and for myself ♥️♥️My dad was with me, and I hope I’m just making him proud ♥️♥️ @mary.pat.cardoni @lbcardoni @vmcardoni @eden.gbrewer @fmlynch @katiecardonibrewer #marinecorpsmarathon #soberlife #veterans #running #joyofrunning #marathon #soberissexy #soberaf #dontgiveuponyourself #washingtondc #love #missyoudad #fcancer #dontevergiveup #runnersofinstagram taken in Washington D.
