🎉 Congratulations to GW’s Sustainable Urban Planning (SUP) students on earning third place in the C40 Cities Students Reinventing Cities competition!

The Atelier Wadi Team—Emilien Sahli, Salimatou Doumbouya, Sharon Eblaghie Bahador, Conner Redding, Sarina Norry, and GW alumnus Fernando Garcia-Corrales—developed an innovative proposal to transform an urban riverfront into a vibrant, sustainable community space.

Their vision features a green urban corridor and pedestrian-friendly promenade connecting parks, playgrounds, museums, and a library while creating accessible spaces for walking, cycling, and community engagement.

This marks the second time a GW team has earned recognition in this international competition! In 2021, a GW team took first place for its proposal to redesign Ivy City in Washington, D.C. with several of its recommendations now being implemented.

👏 We are incredibly proud of our students for demonstrating how innovative urban planning can create meaningful, lasting impacts on communities around the world.
