Bright summers make dark shade in temperate forests. I wanted to make a forest MOC that depicted dark shade, so I put as many green foliage pieces that I could in the branches of the trees. Normally, when I make a vig this deep, I shine a light inside it for illumination. This time I kept the shadows as they were, and allowed the creatures and foliage to remain concealed in the relative darkness.

Pool Explorations Part II
My husband and I went on a trip to a couple of regional performance venues. At one of them, we went to see the ukulele performer, Jake Shimabukuro. I thought I'd let the ukulele performance influence a South Pacific themed "floating" build that explored a couple of the hotel pools.
At sunrise on the second day, the crew found themselves on a brighter pool. I didn't have a ukulele for them, but I did give them the Coco guitar. And then, it was time for the hot tub!

Pool Trip Part I
My husband and I went on a trip to a couple of regional performance venues. At one of them, we went to see the ukulele performer, Jake Shimabukuro. I thought I'd let the ukele performance influence a South Pacific themed "floating" build that explored a couple of the hotel pools. This is the first pool. It was dark(ish) with a low ceiling, but the crew's spirit lit up the room.

Today is Frankenstein Day! It's the birthday of Frankenstein author Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley who was born on this date in 1797.
To honor the day, I'm reposting a Halloween MOC from 2024 that featured Frankenstein as the front man of a band of horror icons. Here, they're doing a monster mash at an industrial lab that has gone haywire. Do the Mash, Frankenstein!

I just started opening some Series 27 minifigures, and the Astronomer Kid was the first one I opened. With a buildable telescope, this minifig is almost a mini set! LEGO also gave them a pullover that has a print resembling the rocket Boy from Series 17, as well as a prosthetic hand, and a freckled face ready to do some astronomical observations. Naturally, opening the other Series 17 boxes came to a halt because I had to stop and make a starry, starry MOC* vig** for this minifig.

Happy stargazing, Astronomer Kid!

On deck.
1. A view of the bow
2. These two felt two pairs of eyes in the crow's nest worked better
3. Captain at the helm while the first officer keeps watch at the stern
4. On the homeward leg, the crew got a mountaintop view!

The #LEGO explorer ship set sail in the waters of a second pool. Nice calm waters, and shore leave at the hot tub.

This #LEGO MOC was made from some parts (and techniques) borrowed from the One Piece Baratie set. It's made to resemble an exploration vessel because it set off to explore a couple of hotel pools (and hot tubs).
The first pool was long, blue, and sunny. And then, the crew wanted to explore the perilous, turbulent waters of the waterfall hot tub (where they saw the backside of water).

I started this "floating" MOC as a paddleboard that resembled a long surf board with a mid-20th century surf culture look. But then I added a steam-powered paddle wheel at the stern, and it went in a steampunk direction. The minifigs were so enthusiastic about getting into costume for this build.

Summer Lake
I made this summer themed MOC in 2020. It started as a floating dock, and expanded into a lake scene. I wanted to feature a swimmer in the water, so the whole substrate is two bricks deep. At the time, these were practically all the blue tiles in my collection.

This past week I underwent eye surgery for a cataract in the right eye. I was told I'd have to wear a patch over the eye, and anticipated resembling a pirate...and maybe resembling Metalbeard, the pirate captain of the Sea Cow on the right (From LEGO set #70810).
It turns out the patch is transparent. And instead of being held on by a swarthy black strap around my head, it's fixed to my face with medical adhesive tape (because I don't have to wear it all the time). It even fits under my eyeglasses. Metalbeard will just have to "Arr!" on his own. by @cr4shalan
