Yesterday, as part of Demokrati Veckan, we gathered for an evening of creativity, conversation, and connection through poster-making. Together, we explored dreams, expression, and what it means to build community, one conversation and one poster at a time.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their stories, and brought their creativity into the room. Your energy and openness made this event what it was.
We’re also grateful to our partners @wip.malmo , @malmomots, and @hylliebiblioteket for helping make this workshop possible and for supporting spaces where people can connect, express themselves, and feel inspired.

In a world that often moves too fast, moments like these remind us of the value of slowing down, creating with our hands, and connecting with others.

Through the simple yet powerful act of poster-making, we’ll explore ideas, values, emotions and messages by turning them into visual expression. Whether your style is bold and direct, playful and curious, or soft and reflective, this workshop is about creating freely and together.

Craft & Connect is a creative community built around meaningful connection through hands-on creation. Our workshops are open, relaxed and accessible to everyone, no artistic background needed, just curiosity and a willingness to participate ✨

Each month, we’re highlighting creative in our community, whose work inspires us through curiosity, craft, and individuality. This month, we’re excited to introduce a designer whose playful approach to textiles, color, and tactile, making perfectly reflects the spirit of Craft & Connect. Introducing @danieladoe 🤍

“I’m a Portuguese designer working between graphic design and textiles, currently based in Malmö.

My process often starts digitally and then moves into the physical world through tufting, textile printing and embroidery, as a way to make graphic design more tactile and alive.

I’m inspired by everyday graphics like fruit stickers, packaging, street signs, unexpected color combinations, and small details that often go unnoticed. I almost always sneak in a touch of orange somewhere (because it’s my fav color :p)

A piece of advice I’d give is: explore your curiosity, even if it doesn’t make sense at first. Let yourself experiment, make mistakes, and explore different mediums. Creativity grows when you allow yourself to try without overthinking.” ✨

✨ Crafter of the Month: Sonja Karlsson ✨

This month, we’re so excited to highlight Sonja Karlsson, a deeply creative soul and also our co-host for the upcoming Craft & Connect event on 1 May 💛

When we asked Sonja about her connection to creativity, this is what she had to say:

Jag skulle beskriva mig själv som en väldigt kreativ person och jag har nästan alltid varit det. Jag har skapat allt från ringar av ståltråd till second hand flips. Även om jag går natur och det är sjukt mycket stress och plugg, så hittar jag ändå alltid ursäkter att skapa istället för att plugga (på gott och ont hahha). Jag skapar både digitalt och fysiskt. Jag är väldigt aktiv på sociala medier, har ett tiktok konto där jag lägger upp videor i princip varje dag, och jag är ny mediaordförande på min skola där jag gör massor av inlägg och videos själv vilket är såå roligt. Jag älskar också att måla, även om det inte är min starkaste sida. Något jag verkligen fastnat för på senaste är collage, att klippa i tidningar, hitta texter och bilder som känns rätt och sätta ihop allt på ett papper. Jag kan hålla på i timmar!!! Ett annat sätt jag är kreativ på är genom mitt rum. Det är seriöst täckt av bilder, målningar och sidor jag rivit ur böcker huller om buller. Det börjar nästan bli lite för mycket nu, men det speglar verkligen mig. Mitt rum är ju där jag spenderar mest tid, så det känns viktigt att det visar vem jag är.

Just nu är det nog mina känslor som inspirerar mig mest. Min konst speglar verkligen hur jag mår, allt från melankoli till frihet till ren lycka. Mycket av det jag skapar är väldigt färgglada, vilket ändå speglar mig som person eftersom jag ofta är glad och positiv. Men samtidigt har alla sina tuffa dagar, och det syns också i det jag skapar.

För mig betyder kreativitet otroligt mycket. För mig handlar det om identitet, det är ett sätt att visa vem jag är utan att behöva säga det rakt ut. Att kunna uttrycka sig genom något man skapar själv känns så sjukt mäktigt.

Till sist frågade vi henne: Vad skulle du säga till någon som vill börja skapa men inte vet hur?
