We grow trees in a machine. In one day. Right here in Australia. From low-grade resources to premium hardwood timbers. Beautiful, safe, sustainable.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Low-grade timber isn’t a problem we solved. It’s the whole reason we exist.

Anyone who’s tried to introduce something new knows the drill. There’s excitement… and then there’s the hesitation. The questions. The comparison to whatever came before. 🫣

We’ve felt all of it, and if you’ve been there too, just know you’re not pushing uphill alone. 😅

We’re not experts in behaviour change, just people who’ve been in the thick of it.

So drawing on the real conversations, assumptions and hesitation we’ve bumped into along the way, we dug into why innovative materials like ours so often hit resistance.

We think there’s value in naming these challenges out loud. Because the more we talk about this stuff, the easier it gets for everyone.

And once you see the pattern, you can finally start shifting it. 🙌

If this conversation feels familiar, give us a shout. We’d love to hear about it.

👉 What assumptions have you run into, or which one do you find yourself weighing up most when presented with something new? by @craftedhardwoodscom

We’re not your typical timber.

We’re Crafted Hardwoods, a passionate crew proving that timber can be smarter, more sustainable, and more meaningful in the way it’s made and used.

For designers and architects, it means a material that inspires.
For builders, it’s strength and consistency you can rely on.
For resellers, it’s a story customers lean into.
And for makers, it’s the freedom to push ideas further.

Powered by world-first Australian innovation — where robotics, engineering, and science meet nature — we transform overlooked resources into hardwoods made for real projects and bold ideas.

Beautiful, healthy, sustainable, and built to change perspectives.

We’re not traditional — and that’s exactly the point.

There’s only one place in Australia where solid timber starts this thin 😉

Layer upon layer of veneer rebuilt into one solid piece, with no composite core hiding inside. It’s solid engineered hardwood, and once it’s on the bench, it works like any other hardwood. 🪵

Right now, a group is walking through our Adelaide factory watching it happen. 👀

Missed it? We’re opening the doors one last time this Saturday for @adelaidedesignweek. Come see the whole thing for yourself before it’s back to business as usual.

Spots are limited, link in bio.

Last call for the hi-vis carpet. 🦺

Seen this already? Here’s your friendly reminder. New to it? Perfect timing, because our factory tours are on THIS WEEK for @AdelaideDesignWeek.

For the first time, we’re opening the doors so you can see the only process of its kind in Australia up close. It’s a rare look at what goes on before our timber reaches a home or a building.

Whether you build, design, make or are just curious, you’re welcome.

Thursday 15 and Saturday 17 October
12pm-1.30pm
North Plympton, Adelaide

The tours are free, but the numbers are limited. Registration essential via link in bio.

Thanks to our friends @sustainablebuildersalliance for helping spread the word.

See you on the floor! 😉

Come meet the humans and robots behind our material.

This Adelaide Design Week, the factory doors are open to the public for the first time, so we’re rolling out the hi-vis carpet. 🦺😉

Come round on Thursday 15 or Saturday 17 October. Bring your questions, your curiosity and a closed-toe pair of shoes. We’ll sort the rest. (Oh! and bring someone that needs to see it too!)

We’re keeping groups small so everyone can hear, ask questions and see the material properly. Register early to save your spot.

Details:
15 and 17 Oct 2026
12pm-1.30pm
North Plympton, Adelaide

Free, but registration essential via link in bio.

See you on the floor!

Next time you're detailing an internal glazed partition, spare the aluminium a second thought.

ReFramed gives you a timber option, built to slot into the same detail, the same install logic and the same budget conversation.

No build or reno on the horizon?
You can still get your hands on our timber. 😉

A growing list of makers are already turning it into things you can bring home. 👌

Every person on this list shapes our material into something completely their own. Backing them means backing Australian design and local manufacturing, one order at a time.

Something here catch your eye? Skip the middle step and go straight to them. Handles below, or find the full crew on our Makers page.

Three years in. We didn’t think we’d be here yet, talking Green Star scores. But here we are. 🥳

The @gbcaus is pushing the industry toward materials that are transparent, lower-impact, and properly accounted for, and that’s exactly the territory we live in. So when Green Star Fitouts v1 started scoring products on how much responsibility sits behind them, we found out we were already there 😎

Chain of Custody + Declare Label + Product Carbon Footprint. It’s the kind of paperwork that takes years to build and we’re proud to have done the work!

Our timber lands well above best practice under GBCA’s Responsible Products Framework, and that’s not a number we’re going to keep quiet about. 😅

Full guidance on where we fit, credit by credit, is on the blog. Link in bio.

Some tributes get a plaque, this one got a tree.

The Foundation Tree stands in Aurecon’s Docklands office, built to honour their late colleague Jeffrey Robinson and the values he worked by: collective ambition, sustainable innovation, and partnerships that outlast the project that started them.

The timber is our Tasmanian Oak. Not the select-grade logs you’d expect behind something this precise, but the resources that usually get passed over.

Researchers at @msdsocial worked with Aurecon’s engineers to find the form through computational design, tension cable form-finding and a lot of iterative testing. @charles.sandford took the geometry and made it buildable.

97 components, each machined in two halves on a 5-axis CNC, joined with timber dowels and a magnet-driven connection system, with custom jigs built just to hold everything in position while it went together. A closed-loop branching structure gives you nowhere to absorb a stray millimetre, so every piece had to match the digital model exactly.

The form arrived there through the same principles a tree grows by: efficiency, structural optimisation, adaptability, and letting the material show what it can do.

The Foundation Tree has recently been shortlisted in the Australian Certified Timber category at the @australiantimberdesignawards Awards.

Congratulations to the whole team, and good luck. 👏

Exciting updates from our collaborators working with us on the fitout for our new studio in Melbourne.

We're quite pleased to be partnering with @durra_panel & @craftedhardwoodscom to develop a demountable bio-based partition system.

Our approach adopts a 'work with what you've got' attitude to fitout. Where we've had to introduce new walls and rooms it was important to reduce our impact as much as possible. by @craftedhardwoodscom

This is our timber, hard at it. No filter, no styling. Just trades doing what they do best. 👌

Internal linings. Window frames. A pivot front door. A ladder prototype. A run of joinery at the @unimelb. Posts and beams for @alpha60thelabel. Shelving and joinery for @aesopaustralia. Timber, everywhere you look, at @aftermath_diner.

Different trades, same material, in hands that know exactly what they’re doing.

Not sure if we’re the right material for your next job?

From a single shelf to a full fitout, from commercial to resi, decorative to structural. Whatever you’re thinking next, there’s a decent chance our material’s already done it.

Send us a message, we’re easy to talk to. 😉
