The next installment of my adventures with the alpaca wool I picked up from the side of the road!
To get the washed fiber ready for spinning, I needed a set of hand cards suitable for the fine alpaca. I could buy some, but it's much more fun, and a lot cheaper, to make some myself.

I made it to the second bag of alpaca wool and it's a bit different! Processing all this fiber is a lot of work but it's soooo soft and fluffy, I can't wait to see what lovely yarn this will turn into 😍

After sorting the alpaca fiber, it needs to be washed. But wool felts very easily, especially when there's heat, water and soap involved, so it needs to be done carefully!

Showing you a bit more on how I'm sorting through the alpaca wool I picked up from the side of the road. I'm learning a lot already just by picking through it all. I also know I have a lot to learn still and am deliberately experimenting by for example what length of fiber I'm keeping in and what gets discarded. Next step is washing!

I picked up two bags of free alpaca wool from the side of the road and I'm so excited! I'm learning so much about fiber already just by going through it and seeing what I have. More to come!

This was the start of my very first warp for the loom! I finally got around to editing some of the video, so you can now see the warping process on YouTube 😄
There's so many steps to weaving that there will come a part two, but for now I'm happy I was able to get this first part edited and out to you all 😊 Link in bio, of course!

What a wonderful time at @skaperfestivalen in Oslo. Old friends, new friends, and lots of inspiring makers all around. @marieseriksen and I had a weaving demonstration set up and got lots of questions and people having a go. And then there's the social side of course, hanging out with the maker community, exchanging stories and enjoying good company. What a privilege to be here for it ❤️

New video is out on YouTube!
My loom works only because of the many pieces of rope connecting all the parts. But these 45 year old ropes were showing strain and breakages, so I decided to replace them all. A nice bonus is that I got to learn some very clever new knots, and now know how my loom functions so much better! In the video I take you along and share what I learned, but you get to see the hours of tying up ropes on the floor in fast forward mode ;)
