Spooky season is here, which means it was time to pull the Halloween decorations out of storage.

I never tire of this Lizzie Kate piece - Halloween Rules. It is such a cute one.

October 1 marks the start of the Charlotte Warrington SAL!

The goal is to finish pages 1 and 2 this month.
A teeny tiny start has been made - that little red line of stitches 😁. Meanwhile Sookie thinks that I simply created a nice cat hammock 🤦🏻‍♀️

Happy October!

Here's my September recap:
• 8 Prairie Schooler Santas were fully finished
• The Hawaiian Rolls needlepoint was stitched
• Continued progress on What Remains
• ...and Charlotte Warrington arrived ☺️

It was a slower reading (listening) month, and mainly easy reads to wind down after work.

My favorite book this month was Hamnet.

Or seen the movie?
What did you think of it?

(I am not much of a TV watcher/movie goer, but am now interested in seeing the movie for this one.)

Each year Sampler Guild of the Rockies host a couple of challenges. One is the UFO challenge - making a commitment to complete those unfinished objects over the course of the next 12 months.

My UFO submissions this year are:
• Dasher and Dancer by Hobby House Needleworks
• Monthly Quakers by The Workbasket
• Royal Gardens by Fox and Rabbit

Truth be told, there's a whole pile of UFOs that I could have submitted ☺️. But these were the 3 that made the list this year.

Are you a multiple-projects-on-the-go stitcher too? And where do you draw the line - how many projects are too many projects? 😁

The Hawaiian King's Rolls needlepoint is finished and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!
🧡🍞🧡 ...look at those shiny bread rolls 😁

I purchased the canvas and threads from @sunnystitches.denver during their 1st Birthday celebration. If you happen to be in Denver, and you enjoy needlepoint, it is well worth a visit. The canvas is designed by @solodaughterstitchery

The Neon Rays threads have a great sheen that was well suited for imitating the plastic bag that the actual bread rolls come in, and the satin stitch technique shows the sheen off beautifully.

You can see in the later pictures where I was playing around with the stitches to use for the gathered part of the bag - I started with a continental stitch, and then picked that out and did a speciality stitch which felt like it fit better with the rest of the piece. What do you think?

I'll be fully finishing it into an ornament at some point soon. But just tickled to have the stitching done and wanted to share. ☺️

A little Saturday morning stitching, and my first time working with Neon Rays, a laying tool, and speciality stitches in my needlepoint.

I've been using a dab of water to remove the creases from the Neon Rays ribbon, and the laying tool to try and keep the ribbon laying flat.

I love how the bread rolls are looking in satin stitch. (Although that top center one might need to be picked out and restitched - it looks like a twist snuck in)

Such a fun design 😁🧡🍞

Meet Lottie ❤️
Isn't she a beauty! I just love the colors and the motifs in this Big Awesome Project.

Charlotte Warrington 1838 was recreated by Needlework Press, and offered through the Facebook Homespun Needlework group.

The plan is to start stitching on Oct 1 with @staceysuebeach and @1cyncyn1 , joining the SAL hosted by @teone_thestitchingbird

Happy 1st Birthday @sunnystitches.denver ! It was a fantastic 'Camp Sunny' event that you put on today and I enjoyed seeing all the stitchers out in droves to celebrate with you.

I picked up this cute little King's Hawaiian Rolls needlepoint - my daughter and hubby love these rolls. I think it will make a sweet little ornament or bag tag.

August's assignment from the #blackbirdacademy was the Alphabet. I chose a quick and simple design: 'Now I know my ABCs'. My idea is to add this to the front of a cross stitch project bag.

I saw a few reels recently with a drawn thread edging and I thought it would be cute to finish the cross stitch piece this way, before adding it to the front of a bag. So here's my first go at this drawn thread edge. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. But it is quite cute (if I say so myself ☺️☺️☺️).

I'm going to audition project bags I already own, when I get some better light tomorrow. But I think this combo might be a winning one. 💓🧡💓
