It’s #nationalsewajellyrollday and to celebrate I thought I’d release a jelly roll quilt pattern. I already have a couple available but the #janusquilt pattern was in love patchwork and quilting magazine well over a year ago. If you missed out on the magazine, you can grab the pdf pattern now on my Etsy. To celebrate the release I have also added a 20% off using code JELLYROLL for this week too!
The one pictured above used the @rubystarsociety endpaper jelly roll designed by @jenhewett thread is @aurifilthread and long arm quilted by @cumbrianlongarmer
The other is #nesoquilt using @moda ladybird by @cmanningsews also available on Etsy. Also featured above is the #narviquilt using @tulapink fabrics. A layer cake and jelly pattern that was a available on my buy me a coffee page but no longer in use so message if you'd like it. Etsy links are in my bio. by @craftylilmouse

I used the @clovermfg Pom Pom makers to make lots of Pom poms and some Pom Pom bunting for a charity event. It was super fun and quicker than I expected. When Pom Poms was suggested for a charity event, Abbie offered to sort them. We couldn’t get rid of nans wool when we packed the house so I knew there was tons of end of wool balls to make some. I also remembered clover do these fab Pom Pom makers so they kindly gifted them for me to get making. My nan would always get us to make Pom Poms as children with cereal box card. It kept us occupied for hours just making one. However this made it so much quicker I did all of this in probably less than 3 hours (I of course did not time it because I always forget but it was super quick, I promise 😆). I will admit I wanted some multi coloured Pom Poms so I wrapped several colours at the same time. It made it so much quicker so lots was at least double stranded even if it was the same wool. I did trim the Pom Poms to shape them nicely with my little snips, which was very satisfying but a little messy so I’d recommend doing it over a bin. They were super easy to string together and can be moved to space however you like.
I kind of want to make Halloween bunting with black, white, orange and more multiple coloured or striped ones, but I have tons to do so that might have to happen next year instead.
I’d love to see your Pom Poms if you give them a try!

Abbie @patching_up is finally sewing and making some cushions using marvel fabrics. She asked if I could do the backs though. So I whipped up these. Both covered zip cushions backs done and waiting for some patchwork fronts.
Tutorial on my blog for how to do these, if you are looking to add a zip to your cushion back and I have been told it’s nice and easy method too.
Joining @charmaboutyou for #saturdaynightcraftalong and now I’ve finished it’s time to check in with everyone else while I watch some tv, have a good evening.

I made this little badge and thought I’d do a mini tutorial.
Decide on your shape, cut out some card as a template, and collect your supplies. I love these @clovermfg needles and mini binding clips for this. @aurifilthread and thread gloss, although you don’t need the gloss I just like it. Scissors, fabric, interfacing and some batting. I used @vlieseline_uk and I can’t tell you the exact ones because I used left over bits but I recommend a stiff interfacing for the back, cut to the same size as the card shape. For the front I used a piece of batting the size of the card shape and held it in place on your fabric with some light interfacing (that will be f220/180) cut the same size as fabric. Cut your fabric, I found this great kinder fussy cut from my heather ross stash. I made a 1” hexie and used my acrylic template from @talesofcloth but you can just lay your card shape over the fussy cut and add 3/8” seam allowance or make a clear plastic template yourself. I have made circle badges in the past and you could totally do other shapes too.
Thread baste the fabric around the card, making sure not to go through so you can remove the card. I iron for a crisp finish and important to let it cool before removing the card. The back needs the brooch pin sewing on, I made the mistake of placing this in the centre but it flops about when wearing so I’d recommend placing it a little higher on the back. Finally use clips to hold both shapes neatly wrong sides together and ladder stitch around the edge. I love these new clover mini ones a as they didn’t get in the way as much while I was stitching. You could also blanket stitch which I think would be cute. I debated if I should add so extra hand stitched or embroidery details, like the sparkle top stitch on my mouse ones, but decided it was for a 6 year old boy and he wouldn’t be fussed about that.
It was a lovely easy mini project and quite fun to do. If you make one, I’d love to see them so tag me please.

I have finished this small #gustote for a little extra storage in the sewing cupboard. I have made a few of the gus totes now so it was a nice simple sew. It was also good to use these sewing themed fabrics I have had in my stash for a few years. I also spotted this orange webbing I’ve had ages too. Now to fill it and pop it on my shelf with the others.

So it’s #saturdaynightcraftalong with @charmabout and I’m project planning tonight. Did realise I have nearly finished a gus tote but not posted this one yet.
This didn’t use a pattern, I was just using my easy trim rulers to make patchwork blocks and put them together to make a tote. It was supposed to be my house bag back in September but had miss calculated the lining so put it to one side. I just added webbing handles and it’s keep all my project pouches safe. They each have a hand sewing project in and it’s easy to grab what I want out.
Fabrics are @artgalleryfabrics tangerine. Easy trim rulers designed by me and available for purchase at @a_beautiful_thing_uk I will try and post more about them soon, but I’m always happy to answer any questions.

@thefestivalofquilts 2026 is over, we are tired but happy. We didn’t see as many people this year but we did have nice chats with who we did bump in to. I think we got to see all the quilts and managed to do hardly any shopping! It was a good day and looking forward to next year already.

Day 6 #greatbritishquilter asked our top 3 notions. I have picked my favourite scissors, which I added the cute charm I got for my birthday from @mycreativepottylife Next is the seam ripper from @clovermfg this was kindly gifted and I am very happy it was because it genuinely is my favourite one. Lastly some shameless self promotion my easy trim rulers. I love them, which isn’t a surprise since I designed and had them made but they are just what I needed. Especially the rectangle ones for half rectangle triangles and flying geese. If your interested you can grab yourself a set from @a_beautiful_thing_uk
.
Day 7 is @thefestivalofquilts must see, mine is always everything! I don’t need any shopping and although I will probably treat myself to something, I am definitely focusing on quilts and people this year. If you are there on Friday, come say hi 👋🏻

#greatbritishquilter challenge and I am going to combine day 4 and 5. So firstly favourite quilt… I like so many of my quilts so it’s always tough to choose. But this one is my favourite at the moment… she is an overachiever making the cover of @lovequiltingmag earlier this year. It taught me a bit of resilience since the original got lost and I had to make the design twice. Also it is just scrappy, joyful and fun.
And that is my top tip… make the quilts that will bring you joy, use the good fabrics so you get to enjoy them. Play with colour and print just for fun because life is too short not to. And if you are a beginner don’t pick the pattern you think you should do, pick the one you love! I have given more practical top tips in the past but I feel like I need to hear this and maybe someone else does too.

A little in car stitching yesterday, that it was refusing to post but … I am doing hexies on my long car journeys with no project in mind but one Henie from each @rubystarsociety print I have. I have no idea how many I have and my last count was over 300 a year or so ago.
@suzanne.campion and @thatssewkerry asked what’s your favourite fabric, designer, shop for the #greatbritishquilter challenge and it’s safe to say I am still in my RSS era. Although I love plenty of other designers I am trying to limit my fabric collection, I love all the Ruby star society designers and the prints are too good to pass on.
My favourite fabrics are @artgalleryfabrics and @libertylondon tanalawn. They have such a beautiful feel to them. Favourite shops are @a_beautiful_thing_uk (who also stock my rulers) and @sewhotuk
Also if you like this pouch it is my pattern the #snappyzippouch available in my Etsy store. This one is wonderful made and kindly gifted to me by @livelaughlovequilt by @craftylilmouse
