thought I’d share some beginning info about jailbreaking your kindle! I’ve gathered knowledge from a lot of other creators, with lots of YouTube video recs about the Kindle jailbreak process.

I’ve jailbroken both of my paperwhite kindles and have zero regrets! I mostly read .epub files from Libby and CloudLibrary, so that was my main reason for jailbreaking. (Plus the customized home screen 🥰)

I want to do some more posts about what my kindles look like before vs after and about the whole process.

Lmk what questions you have about jailbreaking! ✨

I’m always thinking about ways to separate my kindle from Amazon, as buying a device shouldn’t lock you into its ecosystem forever! ⛓️‍💥 For anyone concerned about not buying Amazon books/ebooks, here are all the free options I use primarily to read. (speaking from a US perspective)

Also, didn’t mention KU here at all bc I understand it’s a necessary platform for indie authors. Definitely a gray area in terms of supporting indie authors vs Amazon.

Been thinking on this for a while with the rise of Kobo and other alternatives to Kindles, but unless I stumble upon a new, free ereader, I will continue to use my Kindle until it dies! 🪦💀 And I think you should too!

Also, these resources are obviously not just for Kindle users. Everyone should use their free ebook resources 🙏 by @crammedkindle

wanted to list some of my favorite, atmospheric fall reads that really embrace the scary season 🎃

also pls influence or deinfluence my fall tbr!! I surely won’t get to all of these but they are some of my high priority fall reads. Very excited for She’s a Doll and Alba Díaz (but lmk if there’s a better Cañas to start with!) by @crammedkindle

I will do anything to get more reading stats

Follow for more kindle jailbreaking info! ⛓️‍💥

wanted to put a text post together for anyone who doesn’t know where to start with jailbreaking! There are a lot of steps that I won’t go into here, because the Kindle Modding Wiki (linked in my bio) has everything you need :)

This is how I went about jailbreaking my two kindles! I did have to fill the storage of my newer kindle to prevent software updates, while waiting for a new jailbreak version. Amazon is constantly patching old jailbreak methods, since they are often security risks.

YouTube is also a great resource for watching others go through the process if you have any worries before doing it yourself.

Lmk if you have any questions about the process!

been a sec but I’m back! Wanted to join this fun challenge, was quite difficult finding this specific mossy green and the coral colors in books!

These are all books I’ve rated 4 stars and above, lmk if you have any favs in here as well ✨💗 by @crammedkindle

a superrrrr belated April recap - one of my busier months to be sure!! But a perfect reading month, had an avg rating of 4.65 😍 not sure if I’ll be able to replicate picking such good reads again

👑 Poet Empress was easily such a stunning 5 star fantasy, also perfect for AAPI month if you haven’t read it yet!! Such great writing and unique magic system, definitely a darker generation tale as well. Super impressive debut

🐶 Dogs, Boys, and Other Things I’ve Cried About was an amazing memoir about Klee who fosters rescue dogs in NYC. Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for the audiobook arc! I both cried about and enjoyed this memoir so much.

☀️ SOTR , so good. Makes me want to binge THG again

👽 Antimemetics was an interesting novel with unique formatting which was a fun read. It’s about unknown entities that make people forget them and things, but got a little too theoretical / far out for me towards the end. by @crammedkindle

a little Last / Now / Next of what I’m reading while I work on my April wrap up 💐 it’s been busy with school finishing up but I’ve been reading some great books!!

☀️ Just read SOTR and I thought it would be less devastating since we all know roughly what happens but I should have known better!!

🌲 reading God of the Woods for a Goodreads challenge bookmark and normally I would not have picked this one up, but this is way better than I expected, the quality of the writing is extremely good. It’s long enough that it suspends the tension very well!

⚔️ up next I do want to tackle the Odyssey before the movie releases in July, and starting it early will let me read it slower and simultaneously with other things. I’ve read it in high school but remember next to nothing lol

lmk your thoughts if you’ve read any of these! by @crammedkindle

I was frustrated with this book at times, but the ending wrapped it up well.

Kitten is a story of obsession where Katie, a recent college grad with no direction besides an obsessive relationship, goes on a trip with her boyfriend James to his childhood town of Holme. On this trip, she meets Silver, James’ family’s cat.

Katie is immediately obsessed with Silver at an insane level. She wishes to be the cat, to have the freedom of the cat, which is compared to a childlike freedom. The book focuses a lot on the attractiveness of youth, which Katie’s mother also struggles with in their relationship.

This book did well in its repetitive themes, but I feel like it tried to cover a lot of topics in its brevity including mother-daughter relationships, pet relationships, friend/roommate relationships, and romantic relationships. It tried to create a total snapshot of Katie’s life along with her obsession with Silver, which was a difficult task.

It was really difficult to read the constant scenes with Silver, where Katie is just so clearly obsessed and passive towards everything else, including her boyfriend. James is obsessed with Katie, and treats her like a pet, which she enjoys. The flashbacks to her mother reveal an obsession of Katie and her youthfulness. Obsession everywhere and all consuming for everyone!

I liked the ending, where it resolved a lot of the conflict within relationships.

A good read, maybe not my favorite due to very frustrating characters and the writing style, but I think it presented interesting themes and relationships! A promising debut from Stacey Yu for sure.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the digital arc. by @crammedkindle
