Let's ride! Lap one with @trucranemotorsports Spec Miata #112 at SCCA Spec Miata Summit Point on 6/14/26. I finished P12 in Saturdays heat race, but did not have a great grid position for Sunday's feature race (lap times were meh). I knew that to jump up the places I needed an aggressive start to stay with the meat of the mid pack instead of tailing off. Worked up from P23 to ~P15, with some great back and forth racing in a pack that was still pretty tight even at lap 7. Unfortunately, I came in a little hot and a little early at T10 on lap 7 and lost the rear end. Saved the car from a spin and the wall, but chaos ensued behind with a number of cars making contact either avoiding me or avoiding people avoiding me. I'm glad everyone is ok, but this incident shut the race down for 20 mins, before we got out for a super quick 3 lap race. FWIW I ended P22 after that having started second to last. A damn shame that the race was cut short and that some guys came off badly in the chaos at 10. Not what anyone wants to see. Can feel the speed and skill building. Can't wait for the next one. My brother Adam and I have been in the car game a long time, we've both loved them since we were kids. But he's the reason I got into track driving, so I wouldn't be here without him. That feeling when you realize your windshield wipers don't work... Sitting in grid for a black flag, it started to rain...hard...some cars bailed but the rest of us went back out for a truncated race (on slicks). Let me get two minutes of your time! Ok so here's the deal. I was a professional athlete for almost 10 years. I worked in non profit fundraising for 7 years after that. Race cars do two things very well (actually these two things are about all they do): go fast and break. Today we did both! But here's a broken axle after practice session 4. Dang shaft and nut sheared right off - super inconvenient. Big thanks to @impicklerick9 for keeping me sane (I think I had heat exhaustion and was not handling this setback very well at first) @_zach_augustine for magically having a spare axle right when I needed it, and @rpperformanceracing for having an axle nut in the parts drawer. Race week is a lot of work! Here's what I've done to prep this week for @wdcr_roadracing MARRS 7 at Summit Point this weekend: Get tires mounted (1 set stickers, 1 set 4HC spare, 1 set 6 HC practice) New trans fluid in race car Drain and fill trans in tow rig Oil change race car Bleed brakes Nut and bolt check whole car Alignment Lower ride height 1/8" all 4 corners 3x 2 hours Sim racing Pack all gear for 4 day trip Still to do: pick up wheels from shop, wash car, load up truck with gear and spare wheels/parts, load car on trailer. I'd pay money to do this. Feeding and caring for your own pet race car is miracle level goals aspiration (for me personally at least 🙏🏁) #scca #specmiata taken in Richmond, Virginia by @crane_racing

The Miata has a thirst for fresh fluid! My third gear synchro is no good, so I'm grinding with every 2-3 and 4-3 shift. Super frustrating since I put in what I thought was a fresh transmission just a few weeks ago. Let's see if the well known miracle cure of Ford XT-M5-QS fluid will get me through a few more races... taken in Richmond, Virginia by @crane_racing
