Feeling the full nostalgia of a Roadkill style adventure with @luckoftherear We bought both of our jeeps early this year in extremely poor, not running condition. New idea - do we take these two 1975 CJ5s that he and I have resurrected and try to drive them all the way to the Rubicon trail and back? That’s 1200 miles on the highway and a gamble that they make it off the trail in good enough shape to drive them home 😂 by @crawltv

✨ Friends, please hype up this post like it’s a girls comment section. ✨ The new @RACELINEWHEELS beadlocks are on, wrapped in a fresh set of Toyo trail R/Ts and I couldn’t be happier with the result! This thing is getting dialed in perfectly for family outings with the baby. She’s missing the Rubicon this year because she’s just not quite old enough for 5 days of wheeling and camping but next year, for sure! by @crawltv

I have been absolutely BURIED in work these last few months but we’re only two months away from the Rubicon now, so I’m making time to get the huge list of vehicle projects done before it’s an emergency. Big shout out to @luckoftherear for burning the midnight oil in the shop last night! by @crawltv

Today’s #throwback is a deep one! On this day in 2021, I was out working an event for Baja Designs and @steph_153 decided to get my old work truck fixed so she could use it, probably to go buy plants if I had to guess... The radiator hose had blown and I didn’t have time to fix it before I left, so she took it upon herself to get it done. Mind you, we were still dating at this point, but two years later, almost to the day, we were married. This was one of those many defining moments that we had when I said you know what… Hell yeah. I could use more of this in my life 😆On a side note, I miss that old junky truck and that comfortable bench seat so much. by @crawltv

In a previous post I said “sometimes I’m good, sometimes I’m lucky.” Well, today I was neither.. I left off almost exactly where I started because I had to take everything back apart. A front main seal that wasn’t seated all the way cost me pretty much a whole day of nonsense. On the bright side, having to walk away from this reassembly for 24 hours means I can now get the correct bolt kit for the timing cover and water pump, and since everything has been test fit and laid out it should all go back together really quickly. We’ll just consider today a dry fire. 😂 by @crawltv

The little black CJ5 came out to play last weekend. Since there are no body mounts (rust), the radiator fan hit the shroud, exploded it, and blew a hole in the radiator. The good news is that the @alliedwheels beadlocks and 33s tucked nicely, and this is still pre-lift kit! I have such a mountain of parts for this thing… and now a radiator and electric fan to add to that pile… it’ll be a cool build to put together for sure. It just needs to be Rubicon-Ready in less than 4 months! by @crawltv

After PLENTY of back and forth about what to do with this rusted out CJ I finally decided that it’s going to stay rusty but get just enough love to make it usable. I went back and forth of new tubs, selling it outright, or using it for parts but the fact is that this jeep DID get me across the country with just the right amount of drama so it deserves to stay here. I guess it’s time to start welding heavy metal parts to it to hold it all together now so that I can get it through the Rubicon Trail… by @crawltv

If you were wondering why I went to TDS with the JKU instead of my crusty little black CJ5 that we just brought home from Salt Lake City, the answer is pretty simple: Air Conditioning. ❄️ As much as I wanted to suffer in the 110° heat with my boys, we do have a 4 month old baby, so I turned back to my reliable 4x4 minivan on Dynatracs and Kings for an easy ride with the onboard fridge and Apple CarPlay. I bought this rig for the creature comforts and that’s exactly why I love it. There are still things I can’t wait to change on it, but it does the job very well even on little baby 35s. by @crawltv

800 miles of incredible memories... I think that’s all I want from this Jeep. The ridiculous time-crunch to build it, the terrifying first test drive, the vice grips on the front brake lines, all four fuel pumps, losing the rear brakes, the wild steering, getting pulled over and making friends with the sheriff, the midnight Steely Dan jams on the JBL across the desert at midnight, and getting back just in time for Luke to go back to work on Monday morning…I’m conflicted because I have a big pile of parts for this jeep but it’s not a great starting point for a project the way it is. I think I might take the drivetrain and scrap the rest of it to use in another CJ5 or maybe a flat fender project. It has the heart of a lion, but the body is crumbling to the ground with rust. Still, this old Jeep woke up from its slumber and got us all the way across the country without too much drama, and for that, I do love it. Decisions, decisions… by @crawltv
