He requested $40,000 in exchange for 25% equity, presenting his pitch with humor and flair, even using a lobster claw prop to emphasize the strain of repetitive keyboard use.

Despite the creative delivery, the sharks were skeptical of the product’s practicality and market differentiation.

Robert Herjavec famously declared, “The product is crap,” while ironically admitting interest in the entrepreneur himself, not the invention.

The sharks’ key concerns were the lack of patent protection, minimal innovation, and questions about scalability and long-term demand.

Following the episode, the Copy Keyboard went viral on TikTok, generating over 30 million views and a temporary sales boom.

The product was listed online between $19.99 and $24.99 but disappeared from Amazon and its official website by May 2023.

Scotty Trujillo has since moved on from the venture and is now working as an operations advisor at Tesla.
