A long day at the Orlando Open yielded 6 medals for Team Crazy 88! 🏅

🔥 Asher May took on FOUR divisions and put together an outstanding performance, earning Gold, 2 Silvers, and a Bronze while racking up 4 submissions.

💪 Christian Thomas added a Silver and a Bronze to the team’s medal count, including a submission victory along the way.

Now it’s time to get some rest and get ready for Pan Kids tomorrow! 🏆

🔥 A great weekend of competition in the IBJJF Virginia Open for the Severna Park Jiu Jitsu team!

🥇 Roger Whaley went 2-0 to capture Gold in Masters 5 Blue Belt.

🥈🥈 Brandon Epps earned Double Silver in Masters 5 Black Belt.

🥈🥈 Christian Thomas brought home Double Silver in Adult Blue Belt No-Gi.

💚 We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported our seminar. 100% of the proceeds were donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

A special thank you to the Timmins family for allowing us the opportunity to host this event in Justin’s honor and support a cause that meant so much.

The day featured seminars in Gi Jiu Jitsu, No Gi Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai, led by Coach Vannessa, Coach Chris, and Coach Sebastian.

It was truly inspiring to see our community come together in support, remembrance, and unity. Justin’s impact reached far beyond the mats, and while he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to live on through all of us.

🏆 IBJJF New Jersey Adult Results 🏆

🥇🥇 Asher May made his return to competition after suffering a foot injury at Pans. In his very first match back, he nearly found himself injured again after being slammed, but he stayed composed, battled through adversity, and secured the win. He went on to capture the division title with a footlock in the finals. In the open class, he won his first match by points before finishing the finals with a triangle choke to earn double gold!

🥇🥉 Brandon Epps put together a strong performance, winning his division with a 5-point victory. He then added another win in the open class by 3 points on his way to a bronze medal finish.

🥇 Roger Whaley claimed gold with two disciplined performances, winning his matches 3-0 and 2-0 on points.

Outstanding work, gentlemen! Way to represent the team and put your hard work on display. 👏🔥

There is still time to sign up for the next 8 weeks. We offer full days, half days morning and afternoon, and even drop in days!

*Severna Park camp runs 5 weeks starting July 6th.

🥋 We engage the kids in a number of different activities and do a martial arts lesson in the middle of the day.

Our Advanced Kids (ages 5–8) have their own dedicated class where they build a strong foundation in the core skills of jiu-jitsu before making the jump to our 9+ Advanced Program, which brings a higher level of technical and training expectations.

📅 Testing is next week at all locations! Make sure your child is in class so they can earn their next stripe or belt and showcase everything they’ve been working on.

⚔️ The kids team dominated the Grappling Industries DMV with 12 gold medals.

🥈 The kids took second overall with less than half of the athletes of the first overall team.

🏆 Special shoutouts to our Champions: Tawan, Cameron, Hadassah, Evelyn, Enrique, Kohen, Manny, and Colten.

It was a tough day with multiple evacuations into the hot sun, but the team stayed composed and performed anyway. A few of them will also be competing this weekend in the New Jersey Open in preparation for the big show in July.
