LFO Art Club had a very special guest speaker. Tori Fyfe from Safelight Photography helped us print with sunlight. The UV rays activated a two-part solution in a process that’s nearly 2 centuries old. I think we might be hooked on a new medium!

The Banksy show opening was an excellent coincidence. (I also talked my way into the haute show next door. ) If you know my heart for justice, you get the draw to his clever symbolism. Working anonymously absolutely absolutely put his message on the front page, now if he’d just start making triptychs.
I tell all my students, it’s a great way to “jump the queue.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Definitely plan your wardrobe to go with the mirror room. I was still in the GAE Ignite wardrobe and I’m sure they thought I was representing the show theme, but 🤷‍♀️.
Tell me if you find my pro public education comments on the graffiti wall! 😘

Did you know that GA’s public school funding formula is from 1985?

Here are the top 5 from the portal of 41 years ago:

1) Movie: Back to the Future and The Goonies
2) TV: Miami Vice
Song: Wham!’s “Careless Whisper” and USA for Africa’s “We Are the World”
3) Toys: Cabbage Patch Kids and Teddy Ruxpin
4) Games: Nintendo’s console with Super Mario Brothers 1.0
5) President: Ronald Reagan

If this much has changed in our culture and tech, why can’t our legislation keep pace with funding the Quality Basic Education formula so that our students have experience and skills in the demands facing them IRL?

The Apple computer is 50 years old. Our 1985 formula didn’t include a line item for upgrading technology. The Chromebooks were a pre-Covid grant.

Before you bash public education, 1) sign up to sub, 2) read about QBE, and 3) talk to your house and senate lawmakers.

Some of your local teachers are fundraising on unpaid time.

P.s. Kiln pic for extra attention…Ceramic trees ($100) and ornaments ($2) go on sale Nov. 30th at LFO HS. Select your glaze color early to have your tree and base ready on the 30th.

It’s time to register our least represented demographic. Talk to your people. If you need a ride, call me. I’m running a personal and free shuttle during early voting.

One bud left to pop. These velvety petals amaze me each time. Durability and softness can coexist; nature shows us so many examples. 💜 #orchid by @crazyartlady

Let’s put the goal on the board, ya’ll:

Public Education is a precious unity amongst differences for ALL the students.

It was true 5 years ago and it’s still true today. Those 4 key words become 8-9 with the “linkers” included.

I’m going be a “linker.”

To add value… to the value …

Art 1 starts the illusion of space technique this week where bunny grey isn’t enough. Pro’s achieve 9 levels but I’m only asking for 5. It’s wonderful dichotomy involving equal teamwork between the extremes because ….. without the shadow and the highlight the drawing falls apart. 😉💜

The things we have to do to compete with the digital world….

Don’t hate the player…. 😘 by @crazyartlady

History is being made before our eyes, y’all. Keisha Lance Bottoms Meet & Greet in Ringgold has a relationship with the people of rural GA up and down the state, because she wants healthcare and education to elevate everyone. She will work to make GA an affordable place to do business. Her answer to QBE was to start by fully funding it so that PUBLIC education can do the work to prepare ALL GA’s student (starting with Pre-K). She’s for teacher raises so you can stop moonlighting to make ends meet. She wants to delete the tax on groceries and remove tariffs. She cares about the environment and wants to pause data centers. Her 4 adopted children are proof of her investment in GA’s future. The students in the front row asked her how will she work across the aisle and she acknowledged that it was the way forward. She has the experience and common sense to lead FOR and WITH the people.
