🚚Beep! Beep! 🚛 Trucks are a pretty big deal in our house right now. So, I was truly over the moon to receive my very first copy of BIG RIG PIG last week, my next picture book with the one and only @clairetatters and Flamingo Books @penguinkids. I have so many things I love about this book. From how it actually became a book, which coincidentally is how all books should be made - over margaritas and giggles with a dream team, to drawing my first epic double fold-out spread in a book, to even being inspired by the fact that I am the son of a truck driver and how going to work with my dad when I was younger only proved that I was not meant in this life to perform manual labor. But what I love most of all about this book is that I truly believe, as artists, the projects that happen most naturally and organically are the ones that bring us the most joy. I don't think I could think of a better example of this than the wonderful pig that is Miles Bacon, his best copilot Wayne and BIG RIG PIG. I truly cannot wait to share more about BIG RIG PIG soon, but, for now, here are a couple quick photos of BIG RIG PIG dropped right in the middle of our living room floor, which also just so happens to currently be a street map that my wife made for our toddler out of masking tape and all his blocks, trucks and cars we stub our toes on over everyday. BIG RIG PIG drives into bookstores July 14, 2026, and is available for pre-order now! Cover Reveal! 🌊🏄🌅 DAWN PATROL, my upcoming author/illustrator picture book with the wonderful team @candlewickpress, is officially available for pre-order. . To say this book means the world to me would be an understatement. As a new father and as a son, I tried to capture the special bond that only a parent and child could have. It's easily the most vulnerable I've been as an artist, a writer, and a human, which is terrifying, but I also believe it only makes this book that much more special. . If you have a child or a parent who has made an impact in your life, this book is for you. I hope I put a few words together to describe the indescribable love you share and the effect that a parent has on a child that lasts longer than one could ever dream of. To learn more about DAWN PATROL, I included the description below and preorder links in my bio. . DAWN PATROL A father and daughter go out to surf at dawn in this touching, visually striking ode to the bond between parent and child. We are the Dawn Patrol when waves wrap around us, like one of Dad's giant bear hugs. Waking with the first glimpse of sun, a father and daughter set out together for the shore, donning wetsuits and laughing as their giant shadows stretch out before them. For this duo, the cherished routine means watching with awe as surfers glide on waves like brushstrokes across canvas. It means just enough encouragement to turn nervousness into excitement; it means wiping out and trying again and again. But the Dawn Patrol is about more than spending time on the water. It's about making memories out of the smallest moments; about always finding ways to be together, no matter how busy life gets or what the passing days and years may bring. With stunning artwork and a tender text, Rob Sayegh Jr. celebrates the parent-child bond and the little things that add up to a lifetime of love. It's a story just right for lap-sharing, and an ideal gift for Father's Day, Valentine's Day, or any day. . #childrensbook #picturebook #kidlit #Kidlitart #surfing #instabook #read #mother #reader #books #dad #booklover #kidsbookstagram #reading #bookworm #kidsbookstagrammer #kidsbooks #childrensbooks #momwhoreads by @createdby.rob

Words. On. Warren. What can I say?!?! My very first author event was unforgettable. I got to visit my old ‘hood, spent time in one of the CUTEST bookstores in existence, and got to share it with my girls, Billie & @xindiyanart . What a gift, what an honor, what a great bookstore in a great city. So many special moments that I won’t soon forget. Thank you, @wordsonwarren …I’m your biggest fan! We missed you, @robsayart …a November visit is necessary!! #owlcaponebook @christyewers @christyewers_cat_agency by @createdby.rob
I love designing characters. And boy does OWL CAPONE have a lot of them. There are literally dozens of background characters alone, and each one is stylized in there very own Prohibition Era inspired outfit. Like many of my other books, almost all of my designs start as doodles in my beloved travel sketchbook and red Prismacolor Col-Erase Pencil which I have been using since design school. Most of these little guys were done on my couch at night while watching TV. I don’t really allow myself to sit on the couch without a sketchbook. I think it’s a great practice to always be drawing when you have some downtime. It becomes second nature to draw over time and I don’t even think about it anymore. It just happens. ✏️ I watched a lot of documentaries about Al Capone and movies like the UNTOUCHABLES to help make me feel like I was in the world rather than an outsider. This is easily the most I researched for a book ever and it was so much fun to then spin it into OWL’s world and characters. I drew so many rats. SO MANY. 🐀🐀🐀🐀 And the city kid in me finally had his chance to shine and loved every minute of it. . 🦉Owl Capone is written by the incredible debut author @christyewers_author @christyewers_cat_agency and published by Flamingo Books and @penguinkids. It is currently available wherever books are sold. . 🔗Link in my bio to learn more. #characterdesign #childrensbooks #illustration #sketchbook #kidlit #kidlitart by @createdby.rob
You may have heard by now that there is a new boss in town. OWL CAPONE is officially in bookstores today and the support from each and every one of you has been overwhelming. There is so much to celebrate about this book, but today I think it is only proper to celebrate the wonderful person that is @christyewers_author or @christyewers_cat_agency on their official debut as an author. Over 6 years ago, I signed with Christy to be my agent and just like she has for so many others, she has not only helped me become the artist and person I am today, but has been nothing short of a true partner and friend who gave me the wonderful opportunity to make my dream a career. Constantly championing each and every artist she represents while being an industry POWERHOUSE through her kindness and dedication to children’s books, today is finally the day we get to scream from the rooftops about her. With her brilliant debut as an author, I have no doubt OWL CAPONE will be the first of many books we get to add to our shelves both as huge fans but as true friends and famiglia! Being the illustrator of OWL and to be part of HER journey as an author as she has done for me countless times, was a true honor. I cannot wait to see the future for her as Christy Ewers: the author. Thank you truly, to Christy, @anastasmargaret @cieraxrobinson @ninadunhill and all the 🦩s @penguinkids for the chance to be part of something so special. SALUTI 🥂 First round of Almond Milk martinis is on me team! 🍸 - I cannot wait to show you more behind the scenes work of OWL CAPONE over the next few days but for now, please visit you local indie bookstore and library to check out OWL CAPONE in his very first adventure. Anyone familiar with gangster tropes should find this book terrific fun.” – Kirkus Reviews “Ewers, making her debut, and Sayegh (the Proper Badger series) smuggle a lesson about kindness inside an unlikely wrapper: a classic gangster story. Owl Capone, dressed in a pinstriped suit and jaunty fedora, is a community pillar... Densely textured, digitally finished mixed-media collage echoes the hard-boiled text, paying loving tribute to The Godfather with winks that include a menu board that puns on gangster classics... the kind message at its heart is the real secret sauce.” – Publisher’s Weekly Available for pre-order now wherever books are sold!
