Endless Play. SWIPE!!

I had an idea to create a very simple shoot with Ella spending no more than $20 ($25 to be exact) on props. No theme or real direction, just lots of color & ENDLESS PLAY. I have a tendency to Overthink my projects/ ideas which makes them never see the day of light. So here we go! Shot in Prospect Park the day before school started featuring pool noodles, large paper gift bags, a plastic table cloth and 2 poster boards. I love whimsical sets filled with color with no boundaries. Wanted to give this the feel of an editorial so played around with some “dumby text” to give it that vibe. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Paper headpiece made by me - makes me think of a lion… representative of the sign Leo…. Yesterday was the last official day of Leo season as the sun has made its way into Virgo, today.

On the 15th of June, Ella turned 8. 8️⃣
Her theme this year was outer space. 🛸
(The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, lol.) 🤓

One of the biggest gifts I can ever give her, is to make sure she SEES me actively creating and living the my absolute best, MOST authentic life. As my job is to set her up so that she will do the same. That’s it. 💕

SNAILING
(Slippy, Slimy, Slug, Slut)

In this immersive installation, the artist converts @canalprojectsny into an ethereal atmosphere where the creator takes a whimsical approach in examining the damaging effects of technology on nature and its habitants. By reimagining the story of Jeremy, the snail who became popular in 2017 due to its unique shell, Duk Hee recreates its tale showcasing its oddity as the driving message conveying the results of the abuse of tech and the pillaging of Mother Earth. Not to mention the western patriarchal standards that go hand in hand with such corruption. Further telling the story, visitors witness habitats where both humans and snails exist, with thin flowing curtains shaped in spirals like a snail’s shell, once inside the “rest areas” there are pillows, carpets, and robotic snails encouraging all to be in the moment and “experience life at a snails pace.”

Got a chance to see GIANTS while it was at the @brooklynmuseum earlier this year. Just sharing a few of the pieces I saw. Hard to put together a clip showcasing all of my favorites… or even all of what I saw at that matter. I hear it’s in Atlanta next? Glad I got to see it… did you ?

This past March I had the opportunity to experience @pipilotti_rist_studio latest work at @luhringaugustine & @hauserwirth with @adventuresofstephp. Her recent sculptural & projection work on view was entitled:

“Prickling Goosebumps & a Humming Horizon”

Two large scale exhibitions that we thoroughly enjoyed. I love being immersed in light, sound, colors and all that encompasses someone else thoughts & feelings for that moment in time.

15, 1+5=6.

In Tarot the number 6 is associated with The Lovers Card. The same card that represents Gemini where the sun currently sits.

In Astrology the number 6 is associated with Virgo. Virgo, the sign that signifies being of service.

Both Gemini & Virgo are ruled by Mercury, a planet that amongst many things, rules communication.

We all know each year is important for different reasons, and the explanations why could go on and on. I’ll just say I’m happy she’s here. My favorite thing is to ask Ella where she was before she came to hang with us on this planet. The responses keep getting better and better.
