Seven meetings that day, lunch or no lunch, and I'd been at my laptop since 6am. I'd stopped noticing how tired I was.

I cried to my husband on our forest green sofa, surrounded by my bird cushions, because I knew I was meant to be doing something that mattered and I had no idea what it was. I'd read the books on purpose and watched the productivity videos, and none of it touched the real problem.

What changed came while I was looking at something else. I had so many photographs I'd taken and no idea what to do with them, so I started researching creativity coaching. Somewhere in that research, a thought popped up: mentoring had always been the part of my work I loved most.

When that job ended, I trained as a coach. Looking back, every country and every role had been pointing there. I was just too close to see it.

That's what a Clarity Session is for. It's sixty minutes for $160. Most women come in asking me what they should do next, and by the end of the hour they're usually the ones telling me.

It's Saturday. Did you have a Friday like that?

Does your career feel like a haystack?

You've spent decades being the one people bring the hard problems to. The tricky email lands in your inbox with "can you take a look?" and you always find the answer. Then someone asks what you want next, and your mind goes blank.

That's usually when a woman books a Clarity Session with me. She comes in wanting a plan. First we find her thread. Once she can see it, the plan is easy.

It's hard to spot your own thread because you're too close to it. That's what the hour is for.

If slide one sounded like you, DM me THREAD and I'll send you the details. by @createwithmarcela

Ten years of headaches and negotiating with myself, then one night in my kitchen I decided.

I wrote about it, and it's now published on Medium in Crow's Feet: Life As We Age.

Want to read it? DM me the word GRAY and I'll send you the link. It's also in my bio if you'd rather go there. by @createwithmarcela

Everyone says congratulations. You say thank you, and something in your stomach drops.

For thirty years jobs came to me. A manager would call, or a recruiter, and I’d listen for the title and the salary first. The real answer always showed up later, in some small detail they mentioned in passing, and I’d hear my own voice go flat when I repeated it.

I used to feel ungrateful about that drop. Now I trust it, because it’s usually the most honest part of the whole offer.

After 50 there’s less room for the wrong yes. Feeling lucky to be asked still feels good at this age, and I’ve learned to notice when that feeling is the one making the decision.

If you’re holding an offer right now and something in you has gone quiet, message me THREAD. I’ll show you the thread running through your career so far and whether this offer fits it.

"I don't know what I want."

If you're a woman over 50 and you've said that more than once this year, this carousel is for you.

Most women I work with do know. For 30 years, an employer decided their next move, so they never got much practice at trusting their own choices. Now they keep researching, waiting to feel ready first.

Readiness usually shows up after the first step. You move, and the doubt starts to lift.

My work is finding the thread that runs through everything you've done, so you can see where it's pointing and decide what comes next.

Comment THREAD and I'll send you the details of a Clarity Session.

My birthday gift to you: the 75-minute Clarity Session at €111, today only, until midnight Eastern Time.

This is for you if you're over 50, your career has taken you across countries and through more than one transition, and you still can't see how it connects or where it's heading next. More time won't make it clearer. You need someone outside your story to point out the pattern you're too close to see.

In 75 minutes, we'll find the thread running through it all, and you'll walk out knowing where your path leads and the one step you're ready to take next.

Book today and choose any date that suits you. From tomorrow, it's €143.

Comment or DM THREAD, and I'll send you the link myself.

I recognized her straight away. When my own role was eliminated, there was no farewell board, and I learned how quickly years of work can slip out of the story.

Last week, an article by Lisa Davis on @katiecouricmedia called it "the silent removal of experienced women." The quieter damage comes afterwards, when a woman starts treating a restructuring as a verdict on her worth.

If your role ended after 50, what did it teach you about your worth that nobody wrote on the farewell card? Tell me in the comments.

Details changed to protect my client's privacy.

I caught myself un-deciding, and I chose it again. I went.

It’s the pattern I hear most often from women over 50 who tell me they don’t know what they want. They knew what they wanted and chose it, then talked themselves back out of it before they’d taken a single step.

What have you un-decided this week that you need to go back and choose again?

Sarah told everyone she didn't know what she wanted.

Long career, a few countries, plenty of chapters. But she kept revisiting the three years she spent inside Pilates.

Training, studying, reading everything she could get her hands on, eventually teaching. She said it was the first time in her adult life she'd felt properly alive.

Then the further she went, the more the practice opened something in her body she didn't have language for.

There was nobody around her having the same experience, and it left her exposed and alone. She took that as proof she wasn't fit for the work, and went back to the safety of editing.

After that came the years of podcasts, books, courses, coaches, and the sentence she repeated to everyone, including herself: I don't know what I want.

She told me she was grieving Pilates.
She'd been saying I don't know what I want for years. She had never put those two things side by side.

She knew exactly what had made her feel alive. The part she didn't trust was whether she was allowed to go after it.

I recognised it fast, because I said that same sentence for fifteen years.

Mine started when I closed the massage practice, and it carried me through other countries and jobs I was good at. I kept thinking I'd know when I found it. I was fifty before I understood that nothing was going to arrive and tell me.

If you'd rather find out what your own thread actually is, that's a Clarity Session. 60 minutes, and you leave with one clear direction.

€111 / $129 USD / $179 CAD.

I've written the whole thing up, Sarah's story and my own version of the same pattern. It's on my website, link in bio.

Two slots this week. I'm away from 27 September, so the next sessions are in October. by @createwithmarcela

In 2008 I walked away from my first business.

I had trained as a massage therapist and I had my first clients. I could imagine doing it for the rest of my working life. I loved it.

Then the fear of not succeeding showed up, and I had no idea what to do with it, so I believed it. I packed it all up and took a monthly salary instead. Changed sectors, moved into life sciences, and spent the next fifteen years overperforming in jobs I was good at.

All that time I told everyone, including myself, that I didn't know what I wanted.

I knew exactly what I wanted. I didn't believe I was the person who could build a whole life around it. So I pursued what felt familiar and called it not knowing.

I never once asked myself why I stopped. Nobody else asked me either.

I was fifty when I finally decided, without the certainty I'd spent fifteen years waiting to feel. It made sense almost immediately.

The work I do now is the thing nobody did for me. I ask the question, and I stay quiet long enough for you to hear yourself say it.

You know more than you're giving yourself credit for. There's something you lit up about once and put down, and you've got a very good argument for why it doesn't count.

That's a Clarity Session. 60 minutes, and you leave with one clear direction and the reason it's been pulling at you for years.

€111 / $129 USD / $179 CAD.

Inese was convinced she would stay in her corporate job until retirement.

She had been passionate about yoga for years. Never once considered it as a direction. It felt far too risky and too late to build. Her inner critic had a very clear position on that: too old, too late, who do you think you are.

In our first conversation I could already see the thread. It had been running underneath everything she had done and everything she had avoided doing, the whole time. She didn't need more training or qualifications. She needed to stop treating what she already knew as insufficient.

We didn't create a new direction for her. We found the one that was already there.

She now runs her own yoga studio.

I think about Inese when women come to me certain their best chapter is behind them. Her story is not unusual.

I hear versions of it every week. A woman who has built a career across industries, roles, countries, decades, who has stopped trusting that what she knows about herself is pointing somewhere real.

Success follows self-trust. That's not a motivational line. It's what I watch happen in sessions, over and over, once a woman stops arguing with what she already knows.

The thread is always there.

Sometimes you just need someone else to see it first.

Most women who come to me think they have a clarity problem.

They’re struggling with too many ideas, too many directions, too many real things all pulling at the same time.

One client arrived with three businesses running in parallel and a to-do list that said "buy a rubber band” because she was so overwhelmed that everything had to go to her to-do list not to forget.

Another came in exhausted, needing to rest twice a day, with no idea where her energy was actually going.

Another had been drawn to the same idea for a decade, products with inspiring messages, and kept finding reasons it wasn't serious enough to pursue.

I don’t hear a clarity issue.

The woman with three businesses already knew which one to focus on first. She felt guilty saying it out loud because it had started as a hobby.

The one who was exhausted listed her skills to me and mid-sentence her own voice cut in: "yeah but it doesn't matter." She had been the best student in her class her whole life and still told herself it didn't count.

The one with a decade of ideas kept coming back to the same one. Every time.

This is not a clarity problem.

What I hear is a self-trust problem.
They already knew. They just didn't trust their own instincts.

That's the moment I work for.

The one where she hears herself say the thing she's been carrying for years and realises she's been right about it all along.

The thread was never missing. She just needed someone to help her stop talking herself out of it.
