Do you have a place where you could put something like this gorgeous tiny home? I would love to have a property where we'd have a number of varying designs of tiny homes (built by own hands) dotted around in little secluded enclaves. A barn for gatherings where we could hold creative workshops, or a local band and have a good shindig 😍 Ahhh, yes. Would you come? I'm thinking an internet free zone, a place to switch off and detox from those things that clamber for our attention. Books, Jigsaws and just space to do nothing but revitalise our creativity. Hmmmm, yes. That would suit me well. You?

As a small person, I was often told that "good things come in small packages". I would remind them, "so does dynamite" 😁 But for some reason, especially in Western Australia, we think that "bigger is better" especially when it comes to utes and houses.

I met a lady in her later 20's just recently who was building a tiny home in the area she wanted but couldn't afford anything there. Her friends were inspired, and why wouldn't they? I'm not meaning a small apartment somewhere, I'm meaning on some land where you have space around you. An affordable option, especially if you're single, or a couple.

Have you seen our homes lately? The blocks we build on are getting smaller whilst houses just squeeze on the block. We are opting for the highest house/square metre percentage that we can.

Then we put fake grass down, that doesn't breathe, no room for trees you see. When you look over these new estates, all you see are rooves. What happened to replanting trees? Veggie patches? Grass for kids and the dog to relax on whilst reading books?

I think it's time to rethink the way we do things for the benefit of our health and our finances and our planet.

Ahhh, Colour. So many people are wanting greys and whites, or all white, but I love a spot of colour and add Shaker Cabinets, and I'm just in love with them. I'm so glad the latest build is Hamptons and you should see the Aga! 😍 by @creative_living_au

People really have no idea of what others have or are going through especially in this time. Please don't judge or assume that you know, because you don't. Western Australians have no idea what the people in Melbourne are going through. Mental and emotional health is at a desperate point. Suicides are real, domestic violence is real, depression and anxiety are REAL. Be thankful if you haven't felt any of these but that also means, you have NO IDEA what those that have felt all this are going through.

We live in a Social Media, 'hide-behind-your-keyboard" judgemental society. We have no place or right to judge what others are going through or the decisions they make. People are scared to stand up to the media bullies, they are given free speech, while those who know the truth remain silent. Look at what Lindy Chamberlain went through... she was innocent yet spent three years in gaol for not only a crime she did not commit but during a time of great grief and torment, and as she was trying to endure her grief, she was having to deal with the aggressive, public judgment because of what the media stirred up and inaccurately and biasly reported. How wicked. Her whole family still pays the price for it today. How different should their lives had been if the truth was believed!

Now is the time to care for people, be kind to people, be gracious with people. People around us are hurting, suffering, dealing with unimaginable things. So remember, becareful how you treat others because one day you might need some love and understanding back.

I've been finding it hard to be enthusiastic about things of late. Its a Covid-thing I guess. But a place like this makes me dream 😍 Is it the gable? The big windows? The cladding? The green lawn? It's always more than just one thing. That's what a designer does. Looks at everything. A home is more than a floor plan.
Don't build a boring house. It doesn't need to be expensive to build but needs to welcome you home.

Are you a colour person? Or do you like a neutral colour because you can add colour to it or are you the person who loves all white? Whoever you are, be yourself. Let your home be an expression of you because really, it's just paint and can always be changed. Even if it's just the front door.

Be brave, be you. 💖
