For this week’s #FridayFeature 💫 we’re celebrating Bay Area-born artist, illustrator, ceramicist, and muralist @byalicelee as we chat about her second collection with Uniqlo, inspiration from her childhood, and a seemingly missed opportunity that came back around full circle!

#AdobeCreativeClub #CommunityFeature

We wanted to know what elements of Alice’s upbringing came to the forefront in her recent collection with Uniqlo. From going on hikes with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background to sitting in bumper to bumper traffic crossing the Bay Bridge from her old Oakland studio back to San Francisco, the collection is filled with vignettes inspired by her own experiences. Her love of anime and the natural world also seamlessly find their way in, with a tiger leaping across bridges and schools of goldfish floating dreamily above them 🐠

All of us will inevitably have moments along our journey where we want an opportunity so badly, only for it not to pan out the way we’d hoped. For Alice, that moment came 11 years ago, when Uniqlo first reached out to cast her in a major advertising campaign. It didn’t work out, and when she confided in her professor at the time, he told her, “It’ll come back to you.”

What she interpreted that as is if she stuck with her career for long enough, those big opportunities would eventually come back around. She didn’t need to operate from a feeling of scarcity. And that lesson proved itself nearly 10 years later when she began her first collection with Uniqlo, this time with her art at the forefront!

“As creatives sometimes our growth is not visible from the outside. In fact, often the shiny external markers of ‘career success’ are out of our control. But the most important thing we can do is to invest in ourselves, and show up consistently to build those art muscles! On a day-to-day basis that growth can look nearly invisible, but when I step back from over ten years of drawing nearly every day, I can clearly see the artist that I’ve become.” 🌸

Sometimes projects fall through, sometimes a client picks another artist, and sometimes it’s simply a slow season. But after more than ten years of drawing nearly ever by @creativeclub_us

💥 Popping in to share with you our #FridayFeature 💥Kicking off this month with a lovely intro and deep dive into the work of German designer @createdbymvw ~ Shelly is a creative technologist whose work expands the mediums of 3D, generative AI, and smart eyewear 💜

After years of learning 3D, generative AI arrived and both threatened and excited Shelly. For her, adapting was not up for debate and she’s been sharing her process publicly to show even the parts that aren’t working. We love the way that she’s constantly in play, the worlds that she has built are abstract and interactive – bringing you in to fully engage with these mapped out digital scenes and objects.

Within her work she’s been able to bridge the gap between the digital and the physical. You can see her 3D work coming to life in spaces like on a huge desk, in the streets, over a waterfall or on a business card. She has built her own apps for Meta’s Ray-Ban Display glasses, alongside commissioned work for Meta AI and frequent collaborator Runway! From Photoshop, Illustrator and Substance Painter to now Firefly for making prototypes – Adobe tools have been an integral part of her craft.

Outside of client work, Shelly runs workshops for enterprise teams and speaks to them about emerging tech. When it’s time to relax, she’s weaving bags, painting, making ceramics or shuffle dancing 💃🏼

Her journey is a beautiful representation of what it looks like to incorporate new tools into your art practice and make them your own!

💜🌁 For the San Francisco edition of our Special Creative Lunch Club presented by @adobe @creativeclub_us we gathered 25 creatives at @thefoldsf, and what can we say, the energy in the room was ABSOLUTELY BUZZING.

The room was filled with creatives of all crafts, passions, interests, and talents, and it was beautiful to see everyone connecting and of course enjoying the amazing food by @veganchulaeats.

Big shout-out to Vanessa Li from @tomatokindmagazine for organizing this wonderful meetup and bringing her positive energy.

And many thanks to @Adobe @creativeclub_us for making this happen and bringing the creative community together ❤️

Catching up with Chicago-based multidisciplinary artist, designer, educator, and community builder @spifster ! Best known for transforming nail art into a respected art form, her creative practice spans nail artistry, graphic design, murals, creative direction, and arts education for 20+ years.

For Spif, now is a season of transition that she’s fully embracing. As the creative landscape constantly shifts, she’s focused on being present to feel and hear what the collective needs currently are. She believes that part of the duty of an artist is to be honest when approaching our individual craftsmanship, and remain a student at all times. As an educator and mentor, she’s always finding opportunities for artists to reconnect with themselves through their work, inviting the next generation to ask alongside her: What’s missing, and how can we build it together?

Strong creative communities are rooted in transparency, trust, and collaboration. By bridging gaps across disciplines, she’s helping strengthen Chicago’s creative ecosystem from the inside out. Her philosophy for it all is found as an acronym for A.R.T. — Always Remain Teachable.

From leading Pinterest’s In Her Bag workshop with 40–50 young women and WNBA players at the Obama Presidential Center to preparing for another MCM collaboration this fall (number 3 y’all!!), she’s continuing to create spaces where art, education, and community intersect.

Be on the lookout for the many ways Spifster is shaping the future of Chicago’s creative community!

Hosting photowalks doesn't mean I don't participate in others! I got a chance to join a photography meetup organized by @creativeclub_us along with the @lightroom team, and the photowalk led by @stevesweatpants

It's a bright and sunny day walking through Two Bridges, meeting new faces and seeing some familiar ones. Plus, who can say no to a walk that ends with empanadas?

🥙🍵 Some weeks ago we gathered 25 creatives at Montreal’s finest street art gallery, @loriginal_org, for our 3rd Special Creative Lunch Club, presented by @adobe @creativeclub_us.

It was a super cool lunch, filled with great conversations, lots of laughter, and many new connections made.

The meetup was hosted by the amazing @sofianiks & @dinedishmtl, who created a special environment for our creatives. Big thanks for that 💜

Together with the positive energy of @caity.burke from Adobe, we created a space where everyone felt welcome, seen, and free to share.

The delicious food was served by @culac.ca and the matcha by @kaizen.mangacafe.

Many thanks to @Adobe @creativeclub_us for making this possible and creating a space where creatives can meet and connect.

Los Angeles based, Commercial Food & Product Photographer @rebeccapeloquin is an all purpose artists who loves problem solving! collaboration! & the quest for what’s next!

Her series “101 Things That Aren’t Commercial Photography” is a new projects that makes space for continued curiosity, experimentation and play.

When she first started sharing this project, she was really nervous to step outside of what she thought was expected of her. “I thought people might think less of me as a professional or I’d look stupid if I deviated from what I was taught brands want to see. Instead I got loads of messages from people who felt the same way.”

Burnout is something we can all relate to. We asked how important it is to have a creative outlet outside of your main craft for those of us feeling stuck.

“When you make your creative outlet your profession, you put a lot of pressure on it and that can make it hard to turn to when you are off the clock.”

“If you are feeling stuck, try the most low stakes creative thing you can think of—grab the crayons, play with playdough, glue something sparkly to paper- remember not everyone has to see everything. The process is just as important as the product!”

This project has allowed Rebecca to connect with other artists in a more meaningful way. In conclusion: life is way too short to take yourself that seriously. Just try things! If it doesn’t work try something else!
