The number one question has been “Why?”

On 12/17/18, I anxiously signed up for hair freedom and after almost 8 years of loving and celebrating my babies, it no longer gave that. Bluntly said…

➡️Maintenance and styling took entirely too long for my liking. My time is more important to me, now than ever. Between wash days, reties and rod sets, I was spent LOL.

➡️I’m hot, hell! These random flashes are enough, but adding bundles on your neck and back to the mix had me looking for the best barber in town on a few occasions.

➡️My hair would be in the most random, unwanted places such as my armpits, soup bowls and purse straps. The Ghetto. Unbeknownst to me, I was starting to snap off a few while putting on my seatbelt. Yikes!

➡️I was restricted by certain styles. The weight of my hair was causing discomfort to my neck and shoulders. Driving with a bun was completely out of the question. Also, pulling it back on a consistent basis was starting to compromise my edges. Y’all know we can’t have that naaa.

Overall, Im very happy with my decision. I feel lighter, freer and cooler LOL. Who knows, I might make this an annual thing…

This summer has been…different.
Business has been slow. And if I’m being completely transparent, it put me in an emotional funk that I had a hard time shaking.
It’s scary when you’re doing what you know to do and things still aren’t moving the way you need them to. When the phone isn’t ringing. The opportunities aren’t coming. The money isn’t money-ing. And suddenly you start questioning things you were once SO sure about. But one thing I haven’t lost is my FAITH.
So if you’re in a season where you feel stuck, here’s what I’m reminding myself:

✨ Stop forcing movement. Sometimes you need to sit still long enough to figure out what needs to change.
✨ Do ONE thing. You don’t need a complete life overhaul today. Send the email. Make the call. Apply for the opportunity. Post the content. One small move can create momentum.
✨ Don’t isolate yourself. Being stuck gets heavier when you carry it alone. Talk to somebody who can encourage you, challenge you or simply remind you who you are.
✨ Separate a slow season from a failed life. Whew. Read that again. Just because things aren’t happening right now doesn’t mean they’re never going to happen.
✨ Keep your faith while you figure it out. I refuse to believe I’ve come this far just to stop here.

I’m still IN it.
Still figuring it out. Still pushing. Still praying. Still believing.
Still standing!
And if you’re stuck right now too, this is your reminder:
We’re not staying here. Stuck aint permanent!

@_takecaresis recently had the pleasure of speaking with our youth at @beautybootcampforgirls…I had a ball! Of course we talked about the importance of self care as service providers and we touched on a few difficult topics too. They’re important to discuss as these beautiful young ladies prepare for the next chapter of their lives. Im so grateful to continually inspire and pour out every chance I get. God is amazing!

Thank y’all so much for all of the birthday wishes. This year was quite different, but exactly what I needed. The majority of my time was devoted to being still and relaxing. I enjoyed every second of it. A wise woman told me that 46 was indeed the perfect 10…I’m already off to an amazing start! God is amazing!!!
