Welcome to Black History Month and #MyHistoryMonth. Fifty feels like a threshold because I can see my life in chapters now, not just moments: a kid shaped by a tireless mother’s love, a student finding his lane, a Black creative learning to move from edit bay to boardroom to classroom with intention, and a family man who’s building a life and future with a blessing of a wife and phenomenal children. I am old enough to honor what it took to get here, and still young enough to reimagine what the next fifty can do for my family, my community, and the cultures I love.

Black History Month has always been more than a page in a textbook for me, it has been the backdrop and the beat of my own becoming as I grew up, learned, and eventually stepped into leadership as a Black creative, strategist, and mentor. The stories of our people taught me that creativity is not just a talent, it is a survival skill and a tool for building a more just, joyful world, and every role I have held since has been an attempt to live inside that legacy in real time.

If you are celebrating something this month – a birthday, a win, a survival story – share it in the comments or with the hashtag #MyHistoryMonth so I can celebrate with you.

#BlackHistoryMonth #CJJubilee2026 by @creativecorey

5 years of PrismWork.

I built this because leadership was never meant to feel like self-erasure.
Because power deserves intention.
Because clarity changes everything.

Grateful for the people, the lessons, and the work still ahead.

Here is to building what we needed when we were coming up.

Last night was a tremendous success! The community showed up and showed out for my author talk hosted by Whose Books. This was the first in-person event to promote my latest book, Intentional Power: The 6 Essential Leadership Skills for Triple-Bottom-Line Impact. I’m grateful to every family and friend who supported me in this and to all of the new friends whose first introduction to me was through this work, and a special shout out to Lilo Burren, who traveled all the way from Houston to support me. Thanks Bro! These people truly represented all of my timeline, from preschool and “kindygarten” to college, work, and business. Folks traveled from out of town and down the street to this special independent bookstore settled just a stone’s throw from where I was born and raised in Oak Cliff, Texas (support your local booksellers).

The audience asked terrific questions that led to insightful conversations. Also, I got to practice my signature skills a lot because the store sold out of books! Yay! This was a true reflection of goodness, and I soaked it all up. My heart is full. Stay tuned for the next one!
