A little weekend escape. 🍂

As summer fades and the temperatures get cooler, I find myself looking forward to weekends more and more. 🗓️

A new walking path. A trail I’ve never explored. A farmers market with all its eatable delights. A pencil and some paper. — Some time away for the noise of everyday life.

Sometimes that’s all I need to do is unplug. 🔌

Put down your phone and pick up a pencil. 😍

I love that a journal can hold a little piece of who you are at a particular moment. ✨The poetry of the earth is never dead. ~ John Keats.✨

For me, the poetry of the earth and the poetry of writing share something important - neither one is ever really finished.

What I love about journal writing is that it captures what I’m thinking and what speaks to me at a particular time and season. Sometimes that might be a few thoughts of my own. Other times, it’s simply a quote I want to write down and remember. 📔🖋️

That’s what I hope these journal pages inspire - not to copy my style, but to find your own. 💛

You might use a ballpoint pen or maybe a fountain pen. You might cover the page in washi tape and stickers or leave it almost completely blank.

There really isn’t a right way to make a journal page yours.

📌 Keep this one for your next journal page.

Fall gives me an excuse to slow down and notice things.

✨ How beautiful the leaves grow old. How full of light and colour are their last days. ~ John Burroughs. ✨

I lover the warmth of fall - the colours of the leaves, the changing light, and yes… the return of latte and hot chocolate season. 🍁 ☕️.

It makes me want to curl somewhere cozy, pick up a pen and write. Not because I need to create the journal entry. Not because I have something profound to say.

Sometimes I just want to write a quote that speaks to me and take a little time to enjoy the process. A few words. A page. A little bit of fall. And maybe that’s enough. 📔✍️

📖 Modern calligraphy is a contemporary take on lettering that mixes tradition with creative flair. ✨ It’s playful, expressive, and a lot more flexible than classic calligraphy styles.

✒️ Modern calligraphy lets you bend and even break the rules, explore and make your own. Do you like structure or creative freedom? 📐🎨

✨ With Thanksgiving coming up this weekend in Canada, it seems like the perfect time for a visit to an apple orchard. 🍎

There are so many varieties to choose from - and somehow the fun doesn’t strop when you bring them home.

That’s when apples become a warm, delicious pie. 🥧😍

I love how certain words can bring an entire season to mind. When I sat down to write orchard, I wanted the lettering to have a little of that same feeling - the organic shapes, movement and warmth of an autumn afternoon. 🍂

I added flourishes in a few carefully chosen places to change the feeling of the word.

✒️ That’s what I love about flourishing: The foundation stays the same, but a few intentional flourishes can the script a completely different and unique personality.

🍂 Maybe autumn really is the magic hour! ✨If the year was tucked into a clock, then autumn would be the magic hour. ~ Victoria Erickson. ✨

I can see why. The rich colours, the cooler air, the change in pace - it feels like a little invitation to slow down and spend more time creating. 🎨

For me, that often means stepping away from the screen, taking out my pens and paper, and simply putting words on a page. ✍️

There doesn’t have to be a big project or reason for it. Sometimes it’s just nice to have little time to make something.

And if you’ve been thinking about trying modern calligraphy, autumn might be the perfect to put pen to paper.🖋️

My 3 part Modern Calligraphy & Flourishing workshop series begins in Richmond Hill this October. We’ll start with the fundamentals and work our way into flourishing, with plenty of time to practice and experiment with styles and coloured brush pens.

🏕️ I think we forget how powerful this can be… ✨ Keep close to Nature’s heart… climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean. ~ John Muir✨

There’s something about being in nature that clears your mind in a way nothing else really can. No pressure. No noise. just space to think. - or not think at all. Summer has given us more of those moments. 😎

Sometimes the simplest way to hold onto them is to capture them - a quick photo, a few written lines, or a page in a journal.

💬 Have you captured any summer memories this year - digitally or on paper?

I’m teaching several workshops this Fall if you’re feeling inspired to create more. Details in 🔗 link in bio. 💛

📌 Keep this as a reminder to sep outside and enjoy nature.

September brings a fresh start! 🍂 It’s official - summer has come to an end.

But the good news? A new creative season is beginning and that’s what caught my attention with this quote. ✨September brings a natural reset, blending warm summer sunshine with crisp invigorating air. ✨

And while I’ll definitely miss the sunshine, I actually like this time of year. The crisp air, a change in routine, and that feeling that a new creative season is beginning.

💬 What’s that creative thing you’ve been meaning to try?

If learning modern calligraphy has been on your “maybe someday” list this might be a sign to give it a try.

I have a couple of calligraphy and lettering workshops coming up this fall in Richmond Hill. They’re designed to help you get started and enjoy the process of putting pen to paper.

🌅 The end of summer doesn’t have to feel like the end of something good. ✨ Sunsets are proof that endings can often be beautiful too. ~ Beau Taplin ✨

It’s the last week before Labour Day, which means the lazy days of summer are coming to an end. ☀️ Students are heading back to school, routines are returning, and the calendar is starting to fill up again..

An ending can make room for something new. 🍂 For me, that means a new season of creativity, calligraphy, and making time for the things I enjoy. 🎨

I created this lettering art piece with that feeling in mind — using flourishes and movement to give the lettering a little more personally. 🖋️

💬 Are you ready for fall, or are you holding onto summer a little longer? ☀️🍂

One of the things I love about calligraphy is that it gives us a reason to step away from the screen and work with pen and paper.✍️

If you can’t make it to one of my workshops, I’m exploring the idea of creating a digital calligraphy workbook that you could work through at your own pace from home.

💬 Would this interest you?

💾 Save this for a fresh-start kind of day!

✨ S U N S H I N E ☀️ There’s something about sunshine… it instantly lifts everything. 🌞

Flourishes remind me of sun rays — reaching outward, adding warmth, movement and a little spark. Each one is placed with intention, creating balance, rhythm, and flow.

✒️ From simple shapes to flowing movement… every flourish starts somewhere. ✨ 1. Foundation 2. Expressive 3. Advanced.
Do you tend to tend to keep your lettering simple, or let it flow a little more?

💬 Which style feels most like you right now - 1., 2., 3.?

✍️ Try adding one small flourish to a word today and notice how it changes the feeling. 😍

✒️ Begin simple - then let your lines find their rhythm. 🎨

A visual deep breath for a stressful day. ✨Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day. ~ Alice Morse Earle.

This quote is my favourite reminder for those difficult, overwhelming days when everything seems to go wrong.

When a day feels heavy, sitting down with pen and ink is how I find my “something good.” 🎨

✒️ Creating flowing flourishes forces me to slow my breathing, quiet my thoughts, and focus on the beauty in front of me. Creating this piece of lettering art proved that even on a bad day, we still have the power to create a moment of calm with our own hands.

💬 What’s one small, good thing that happened to you today?

🎨 If you’re looking for a creative way to find your own moments of calm this season I’m teaching several beginner calligraphy & flourishing workshops in Richmond Hill and the GTA.
