To say that I ran around excited all day would be an understatement. I was in my own world, without a care, and it was one of the best gifts I’ve ever given to myself.

Disney’s Magic Kingdom has been on my mind, consistently, for 10 years. And so much has happened in those years… I’ve lived and survived what feels like three different lives.

With 2023 being the most magically transformative year of my adult life (WHEW!), I knew it was time to finally feel the magic. I knew I was in a space where my energy would be free to run wild and have fun as an extension of my day-to-day, not an exception to it.

I’ll repeat that, because it matters.

Anyone close to me knows I love lights and fireworks and I’d been talking about seeing their EPIC display for years. Being right there in the center of it all with the perfect view was so incredibly joyful for me. I had chills.

One of my favorite quotes is, “It takes time to live. Like any work of art, life needs to be thought about.”✨ I can honestly say that I feel like the most beautiful masterpiece. I’ve come so far, and in the words of Moana, I’m so excited to see “how far I’ll go…” 💙 taken in Magic Kingdom At Walt Disney World by @creativelorde

I met God; she’s Black.✨ I am always encouraging others to celebrate themselves, so I decided to practice what I preach. This past December 10th, I had the most intentional birthday celebration that I’ve ever planned for myself. The theme was “For Colored Girls”, inspired by the work of one of my favorite writers, Ntozake Shange. IYKYK.

It was a color party, but I wanted it to be meaningful, so I made custom apparel for each of my guests. They selected their color and chose from 3 statements: 1) Stay soft 2) Magical Black Woman, and 3) Strong Women still need their hands held.💫

It meant so much to see the faces of women I have connected with throughout so many different seasons of my journey. There was a certain type of energy I wanted to be around, and I pursued that, unapologetically. 💙

I wish it were possible to talk to every dope a** human being I know, as often as I’d like, but my personality isn’t even built like that. With that being said, I appreciate everyone who chooses to hold space for me, whether you were at my birthday party or not. Time and distance are irrelevant to genuine connections, and I am forever grateful for that. ✨

Here’s what I know, for sure: You are entirely up to you. (Read that, again) 2022 reintroduced me to the responsibility and reward of checking in with myself.
