Everyone is creative. Everyone is welcome. Join us for Creative Mornings, a free monthly social event in Columbia, Missouri!

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

CreativeMornings is a free, monthly breakfast lecture series and global community for people who are creative, curious, and community-minded. Each month, communities in 259 cities across 72 countries come together around a shared theme, chosen by one lucky chapter.

And this September, that chapter is ours! Columbia, Missouri, was selected to choose the global theme: CURRENT.

I’m incredibly honored to have been invited to create the illustration for this month’s theme, which will be shared with CreativeMornings communities around the world.

I’m also excited to join our Columbia chapter’s September panel alongside two incredible local leaders: Dr. Andrea Luque Káram, Executive Director of Ragtag Film Society, and Dr. Cathy Gunther, President of the Board of Missouri River Relief.

Swipe to learn more, and check out the links in my bio to read the CreativeMornings blog and register to attend. I hope to see you there!

Meet our final panelist, @bethanie_irons 🎨✨ A previous CreativeMornings featured speaker, Bethanie is also the global illustrator selected to bring “Current” to life, the theme chosen by our very own Columbia chapter! It’s been so fun to see her work shared across hundreds of chapters from all over the world 🌍🤩

An artist, designer, and Assistant Professor of Art at Columbia College, Bethanie holds a PhD in Art Education and an MFA from Mizzou, plus a BFA from the University of South Dakota. Her work spans painting, sculpture, installation, and design, exploring how art can inspire, inform, and connect us.

➡️Swipe to peep a bit of her work 😍

We’re excited to hear Bethanie’s perspective on the visual and digital currents shaping how we create, share ideas, and connect through art.

And we’re still swooning over her illustration for this month! The first 50 folks through the door (and registered) will receive a free print of her illustration for CURRENT! 🥳

👋 Join us September 18 at @orr_street_studios . Come curious, bring a friend, and register through the link in our bio.

This month, we’re bringing together three incredibly bright and talented local leaders for a special panel exploring our global theme, Current. 🛶✨

First, meet Cathy Gunther, biologist, educator, community volunteer, and President of the Board of Missouri River Relief.

🔬With a PhD in molecular biology, Cathy’s path has taken her from research in molecular genetics to more than a decade teaching biology at Mizzou. Her deep commitment to Columbia also includes years of dedication to volunteers with the True/False Film Fest and continued work connecting our community with the Missouri River. 🤩

We’re excited to hear the perspective Cathy brings to Current, from the physical and environmental forces shaping the Missouri River to the ways nature can spark curiosity, creativity, and a deeper connection to our community. 💡

Join us Friday, September 18, at Orr Street Studios.

🎟️ Tickets are FREE - but seating is limited, so please register through the link in our bio! by @creativemorningscomo
