21 years in the Credit Repair industry, and I still see people making these same mistakes! 👇

✨ Maxing out credit cards. Just because you have the available credit doesn’t mean you should use it.

✨ Canceling/closing credit cards or credit accounts. You could be hurting your score by reducing your available credit.

✨ Applying for credit everywhere. Every time you apply for credit, a hard inquiry may be added to your credit report, potentially lowering your score. Multiple inquiries can add up, so be strategic about when and where you apply!

✨ Paying collections without understanding your options. Paying a collection doesn’t automatically remove it from your credit report. Negotiating a settlement may be a better option than paying in full, depending on the circumstances. And don’t ignore outstanding credit card debt! It’s important to address it strategically.

✨ Waiting until you need financing to check your credit. Preparation is KEY!

My advice? Be proactive, educate yourself, and make informed decisions. Good credit doesn’t happen by accident!

Let’s talk about BUDGETING. 💰

If you’re working toward homeownership, paying down debt, or building savings, you need to know where your money is actually going.

Try this:

• Print your last 6 months of bank statements.
• If you’re married, sit down together and make a pact: no arguing, no blaming. You’re working toward a goal together.
• Highlight the miscellaneous spending — Starbucks, Amazon, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, eating out, DoorDash, impulse purchases, etc.
• Total it up for each month.
• Cut that number in half. That should be the MINIMUM additional amount you start saving each month.

This exercise creates AWARENESS. 👀 Once you see where your money is going, you become much more conscious of those everyday spending decisions.

Use that extra money to:

• Settle collections
• Pay off credit cards / pay down to less than 30%
• Build an emergency fund
• Save toward homeownership 🏡
• Reach your financial goals

You don’t have to stop enjoying your life — you just need a budget.

Spend intentionally, save intentionally, and make sure your money is helping you get where you want to go. ✨

🚙✨ Car shopping should be FUN — not chaos.

There’s nothing better than that new-car feeling. But what I don’t want is for you to enjoy your new car today… and then find out the next time you check your credit that the dealership pulled your credit 10, 15, even 20 times trying to get the deal done. 😩

And listen — they’re there to sell you a car. Their job is to close the deal. They’re not necessarily thinking about how all those inquiries are going to look on your credit afterward.

That’s why I always tell my clients: prepare BEFORE you shop.

One of the smartest things you can do is start with a credit union, preferably one you already have a relationship with, and secure your auto financing ahead of time.

That way, you walk into the dealership already knowing:

✨ What you’re approved for
✨ Your interest rate
✨ Your monthly payment
✨ Your loan terms
✨ And most importantly — what YOU are comfortable spending

No surprises. No guessing. No letting someone else decide what works for your budget.

You get to walk in, pick out your car, negotiate your deal and actually ENJOY the experience. 🥰🚗

A little preparation can save you a whole lot of unnecessary stress later.
