Looking back: Blessed Unrest (2018). An annual Arts & Social Justice Festival at CounterPulse Theater, SF: CMTP began producing Blessed Unrest in 2016, bringing together artists and activists for a weekend of workshops, panel discussions, performances, and visual art exploring the intersection art and social change. In 2018, 16 non-profits presented on the important work they were engaged in at the time, alongside artists performing work in response to the current political climate. by @crescentmoontheater

Looking back: Hold On (2024) takes audiences on a poignant journey through the courageous stories of young adults who fled their home countries in the Middle East due to war. This powerful production goes beyond the headlines, revealing the deep humanity and vibrant cultures behind their experiences.Accompanied by professional dancers, actors, and musicians, these storytellers share not only their personal challenges but also the richness and beauty of their homelands. This transformative production was one of storytelling and celebration that expands our awareness of the refugee experience, the true impact of war, and the resilience of the human spirit.We are excited to be expand this project in 2026- we’ll be creating a work entitled What We Carry - a storytelling choreography production with both refugees and veterans impacted by the same war. In bringing this work forward, we’ll be examining the true impact in hopes of rethinking how we engage with those we consider to be “other.” by @crescentmoontheater

Looking Back: When Your Skin Calls You Home (2021) is a circus-theater production rooted in ritual — a journey that invites us to confront what has been taken, nourish what has been neglected, and remember what’s been forgotten.Staged along the wild coastline of West Marin, this immersive moving piece blends circus, movement, music, and story. Written by Melusina Gomez and inspired by Clarissa Pinkola Estés’ retelling of a Scottish Selkie folktale, the work explores identity, belonging, and the tender space between where we come from and who we become.We were honored to receive the @sfchronicle‘s highest review, and the production is now being adapted into a film.Created and performed by:Melusina Gomez • Mia Pixley • Shannon Gray • Shmee • Shoshana Green • Polina Smith • Claire Calderón • Nikbo📸 by @mer.aldao by @crescentmoontheater
