Sweatshirt time again! Link in bio! This time to benefit the very great @talentskatepark - not only a fantastic nonprofit skatepark, but a lifesaving community center around the corner from my shop in Burlington. @newduds is handling pre-orders and shipping, as ever, and will get these out by late November in time for holiday gift-giving. Order by 10/22/26. In addition to the usual heavyweight hoodies - pullover AND zip-up - we’ve added mid weight crewnecks to the lineup in both traditional colors with Sarah Ryan-designed logo. Buy a lot! All the proceeds go to Talent, and Talent can use / deserves every cent of your philanthropic dollar. Thank you. by @crestonguitars
A baritone for Bryan. Torrefied butternut body, quartersawn walnut / Indian rosewood neck, celluloid tortoise on green acrylic pickguard, Lollar Regal pickups, Bigsby B5, Mastery bridge, dark burst with green-tinted clear matte lacquer. When @vavaenvivo first asked me for 26-3/4” scale B-B tuning eight long years ago…I confess I was apprehensive. But now it’s my absolute favorite baritone scale. Why would I ever doubt her? Anyway, I really like baritones and I love this particular baritone. Thanks, Bryan. by @crestonguitars
I admire commitment! There’s been a lot of that among recent custom guitar orders. This one’s borderline extravagant with two knobs. I finished another one this week with two pickups and NO switch / NO knobs! I’ve got two other one-pickup guitars in the works - pink and blue. Three knobs between them. I’m capable of enjoying a mentally-taxing wiring circuit, but my heart is with the dumbdumbs. Devo told us freedom from choice is what we want. They were onto something. (They were onto lots of things. Have you listened to the drums on Gates Of Steel? They get me excited.) Anyway, this one is for Matt, a lefty who wanted a lightweight guitar with a short / wide neck and a very specific green. I was so pleased with my color matching that I lay in bed proudly ogling its photo on my phone for about a week of nights. Torrefied white pine body, quartersawn torrefied maple neck, Lollar Charlie Christian pickup, 1-ply guard. 24-3/4” scale, 1-3/4” nut width. Flatwounds, naturally. More dumbdumbs to come! . Did you know @sarahryanstudio and I started working on guitars together twenty years ago? I didn’t either until I just looked it up. Almost exactly twenty years after the first one, here’s this E-E 30” six-string bass. I’ve only made a handful of these over the years, but that’s ridiculous. I should make more. This one’s for the excellent @beardmastergeneral - a great friend of my great friends. We’re even in the same band! He’s in the Austin lineup and I’m here in Burlington. Which is a bit moot since the other band members moved to New Zealand, for heaven’s sake. Anyway: -30” quartersawn maple / Indian rosewood neck. -Torrefied alder body. -Lollar Thunderbird pickups -Volume / Volume / Treble Cut / Bass Cut -Navy blue lacquer -Sarah Ryan paint I’m still here building guitars, basses, baritones, etc. I’d be happy to build one for you - now or in twenty years. 📸: @shemispheres by @crestonguitars
I like making basses. Here are the two I made for myself - green in 2005 and sunburst in 2021. I never thought I’d want a second bass, but I blew out some wood while shaping a neck and stared at it for a year or two before getting out the glue and making myself another bass. I like them both so much, it’s hard to fathom ever wanting anything else. I’m always quick to recommend the Lollar Thunderbird pickup for bass OR guitar. It’s perfect. Anyway, here’s a love letter to my basses. by @crestonguitars
