I found a really beat up faded black and white of my 18 year old Mother from the early 30’s and I was absolutely thrilled how it restored! It brings her humor and youth back full force and it brings tears to my eyes to see her so happy again! She was such a carefree spirit so full of joy. ❤️ I couldn’t tell whether it was her Plantinum period so I went both directions! Either one captures her spirit so well! Gotta love those spats! I love doing this magic so much and Google has helped me historically as well! by @crewspat

1967 Höfner Model 4560 Bringing Hofner back to life! She has the action of all the great 60’s Guitars! My Father bought this for me in 1967 my first true guitar! I played it in the rain and shine, in terrible garage bands and sweat covered venues until it was obvious it was time to grow up! After all these years she comes back to life and sounds just as beautiful if not better! Now I give her to my daughter in hopes it brings her joy like it did me. 🥰 🎸 by @crewspat

Thought some might enjoy seeing the steps with my editing. This one was more challenging than others due to the originals blur. My Dad with his older brother Welly. Gosh I miss all of them. We were blessed.
The place:
Riverview was Chicago’s largest amusement park, operating from 1904 to 1967. At its peak it was 74 acres bounded by Belmont Ave on the south, Western Ave on the east, Lane Tech on the north and the Chicago River on the west, with over 100 attractions — it was known nationally as the “Roller Coaster Capital of America”. It survived the Depression, two World Wars, Prohibition, and only closed suddenly in fall 1967.
In the 1930s it was booming as cheap escapism during the Depression. For a nickel or dime you could get your picture taken in these participatory sets.
What you’re looking at is the park’s old-time saloon photo booth. These were deliberately anachronistic — a painted wooden bar, shelves of prop bottles, a steer skull, a hanging game bag, and hand-painted joke signs. Yours has all the classics:
• “LEAVE YOUR GATE AT THE DOOR — DONT ASK FOR CREDIT”
• “DONT ASK FOR NO DERN FOOL DUDE DRINKS”

Depression-era Chicago amusement culture. The park itself is gone now — demolished after 1967 — but it’s still remembered here. by @crewspat

Thomas N Clark! This was a black and white from the early 50’s I found. A WWII Veteran that came home and opened a shoe store in a small town Moberly Missouri. There he and Vera raised five daughters and stayed with us into his 90’s. His voice alone could stop a glacier and his countenance meant he never had to raise a hand. I still remember asking his permission to marry his eldest daughter and good lord it took me forever to get the words out! We were close for which I’ll always be grateful. 🥹 PS we still have this chair! ❤️ taken in Moberly, Missouri by @crewspat

I’ve been nursing a couple of oldies back to playing condition! Here is a beauty a (Gretsch Model 6186 Clipper 1957) passed down to me by my stepmother around 1991. It would get played whenever we visited. 🤣😆

She needed some love and after cleaning then restringing, adjusting the action which took a long time she plays like butter! Seriously the amplified tone is rich and resonate. Considering she is 70 years old that wood has aged beautifully I’m really enjoying listening to her!

If interested here is some history:

The history of this beautiful guitar traces highly experimental and competitive era for
American archtops. What you see is an early, Gretsch Model 6186 Clipper.

Clipper from its very first production cycle around 1957. Gretsch originally launched the Clipper to directly compete with jazz boxes like the Gibson ES-125 and the Guild X-50. Because this features a full-depth acoustic body combined with a factory-mounted DeArmond pickup right against the neck, it belongs to the rare, original design window. By late 1958 and into 1959, Gretsch completely modified the Clipper line into a thin-line design (only 1 3/4 inches deep) and swapped the pickup to their house-made HiLo’Tron.

Original 1957 Catalog Specifications Summary:
• 1957 Retail Price: $137.50 (Case sold separately as an add-on accessory).
• Promotional Layout: Marketed as a high-utility acoustic-electric archtop delivering maximum
professional responsiveness and built-in modern power.
• Body Construction: Fast-action maple neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position
markers, full-depth 16-inch lower bout body of choice rock maple, double-bound edges in ivory/white plastic, and a hand-polished Amber Sunburst finish.
• Electronics & Hardware: Factory-mounted high-fidelity DeArmond single-coil pickup positioned closely to the neck joint for warm, deep jazz resonance; streamlined master volume and tone controls; adjustable
ebony bridge; and the classic deluxe ‘G-cutout’ tailpiece. by @crewspat

Mom (L) and her favorite cousin Mary Lou. 1932 Mary Lou was from Conneaut, Ohio. Mother met her when she her Mom left Safety Harbor Florida and went to Conneaut to take care of Gram’s youngest sister. It was my Mother’s senior year in High School. She met Dad then too. Dad was the boy that lived next door! Still what a shock moving from Florida to Conneaut! Talk about frigid! 🥶 I think Dad kept her warm! 😉 taken in Conneaut, Ohio by @crewspat

When we see a beautiful hummingbird we see grace in high speed, but they are the most aggressive territorial birds around! So the next time you gaze at a hummingbird remember they see themselves as
“THE TERMINATOR!” 😝😉😁

(First picture is mine, Second is Google AI generated!). Didn’t want you to think they really carry armor and weapons! 😝😂😆 taken in Arlington, Texas by @crewspat
