A look back at a wonderful evening of sound, performance, and listening at Cafe OTO @cafeotodalston for the launch of CRiSAP Director Mark Peter Wrightโ€™s new LP, Field Crafting released on Flaming Pines @flamingpines

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to all the artists for bringing transmissions, foley, spoken word, improvisation, intervention and action, and blurring the boundaries between listening and performance; recorded and live environments.

We are thrilled to welcome three new members to the CRiSAP community: Amina Abbas-Nazari, Anna Troisi, and Caitlin Shepherd.

All three LCC Staff bring a wealth of practice and research experience, expanding our community through PhD supervision, collaborative projects, and creative engagement with members and students alike. Over the coming weeks, we will be introducing each of them, starting today with Anna Troisi.

Anna Troisi ( @anna_troisi.x ) is an internationally recognised researcher, digital artist, and composer whose work develops a research programme in embodied and situated data practices. Her research examines how data can be experienced, interpreted, and enacted through sensory, participatory, and ecological approaches.

With a background spanning computer science, music, neuroscience, and nanotechnology, she brings a transdisciplinary perspective to the design of data-driven systems, focusing on how technological processes intersect with human experience, social relations, and environmental contexts.

At the University of the Arts London @unioftheartslondon , Anna is Reader in Creative Computing and Equitable Futures.

We are delighted to have Anna join CRiSAP!

Published by Spiral House @spiralhouseeditions, Listening Glossary explores the many meanings and practices of listening. In an era shaped by climate crisis, war and deepening social inequalities, listening is increasingly called upon to bear witness โ€“ to melting glaciers, disappearing species, militarised borders, extractive infrastructures and other forms of violence and loss.

This glossary is a practical guide to listening as a social, political and imaginative practice. It gathers over two hundred terms from art, ecology, activism, psychology, education and philosophy across nine decades of thinking about listening as a way of relating to others, environments and structures of power. Entries invite listening through anotherโ€™s ears or from specific perspectives, encountering forms of listening that range from the non-cochlear to the interspecies. Together, these entries reveal listening as a critical method for understanding and transforming the worlds we inhabit.

The book is available for pre-order at silverpress.org and during launch at Cafe OTO.
