Pets are not temporary commitments to be discarded when life gets complicated.

They don’t understand why the family they trusted suddenly disappears. They don’t understand why the home they knew is no longer theirs.

Of course, life can change in ways we never anticipated. But before you give up on an animal who depends on you, exhaust every humane alternative.

Never abandon them on the street, outside a shelter or in a place where they cannot fend for themselves. Never abandon them regardless.

They didn’t choose to depend on you. You chose to become their person.

The Inji post has been pending for a minute now. Inji FINALLY went to his forever home in Julyyyy after so much idhar udhar and up and down. He’s now Nimki’s lil brother and they both fight like proper siblings.

This boy really made me work my ass off like no one ever has or ever can honestly. The gingerest cat of all time. A menace through and through. And a WHINY one at that. He was a DOT when he came to us. A teeny tiny lil boy. I accidentally knocked him off the bed once cause he was so tiny I couldn’t see him. But after that he made sure he never went unnoticed. Not at home, not at the vet, not anywhere. He was a BABY. He cried like a baby. Shat like a baby. Ate like a baby. Whined like a baby. Played like a baby. Threw hands like a baby. Didn’t let you sleep like a baby! But I honestly wouldn’t give even a second of the time I spent doting on him back. He was a pain in the ass but he was MY pain in the ass and I loved him so.

The way Sox chose me, and Nimki chose Tishi, Inji chose Gianna. And he stole a piece of all of our hearts. He was truly the littlest, gingerest, most special lil baby boy. And there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for him. taken in Our Hearts by @crispycrunchycutlets

Just before Diwali (2025), I found this little one desperately trying to enter a showroom — tiny bell, soft collar, and the friendliest eyes you’ve ever seen. Clearly someone’s pet, clearly lost.
No one around had seen him before. I went in to get my eyes checked, came out, and he was gone. Thankfully, the guards had kept him safe till ours could bring him home.
He’s since been vaccinated, spoiled, and is now officially ready for his forever home. He’s naughty, lovable, and wears the cutest little socks you’ve ever seen.
Meet Bobby — 15 months old, male, vaccinated, neutered.

🖤 ADOPT ALFIE 🖤

He wasn’t walking—he was carrying his own prison. His body was caked with a thick, crusty layer of mange and gunk that looked like tiny pebbles painfully superglued to his skin. His legs were so stiff he could barely straighten them. Every step looked like a Herculean effort. He didn’t look like a cat; he looked like a stone statue come alive.

ALFIE was spotted trudging alongside a main road, looking like someone had put him in a straight jacket and forgotten to let him out. His rescue was followed by months of trying to bring back his little body that seemed to have forgotten how to be alive. Blood tests, medication, X-rays, sonographies, injections, oil massages and endless patience became the norm. Every setback felt like a punch in the gut; every tiny improvement, a massive victory. It was one of the most gruelling recoveries I’ve ever witnessed.

Then came the next battle. ALFIE wasn’t litter trained. He was stubborn, his body was stubborn, his entire journey was stubborn. It took almost 2 months of meticulous, step-by-step training before he finally understood what I was asking of him.

But ALFIE kept going. Relentlessly.
And slowly, the stone began to crack.
Suddenly, the little creature who once looked carved out of stone was racing around as if he had just discovered speed—and the function of legs!

And today? Just look at him! A ridiculously playful, gloriously happy kitten, completely full of himself, literally bouncing off the walls and bursting with life! And his eyes—his GOLDEN EYES! Like quicksand! One look and you’re guaranteed to be lost to his powers.

His lean frame and scanty fur are the only things that betray the hell he survived. In a few months, he’s gonna look like a baby panther—wrapped in silky black fur, completely convinced the world exists to fulfil his every demand and frankly, he deserves nothing less.

Now he needs just one more thing: a home that loves him as much as he loves life. ALFIE is about 8 months old, vaccinated, neutered and litter trained. He’s currently in Bombay but can be sent anywhere, provided adoption formalities are followed.

I’m back with my Saturday rant. 🙃

I’m tired of seeing people constantly pick up healthy kittens with the confidence that they’ll find them homes, while sterilisation continues to take a backseat.

Every animal deserves a home. But what about the blind, injured, disabled and sick animals who cannot return to the streets and are already waiting for someone to choose them?

Adoptions are hard. I struggle to get them done. So please don’t assume that more kittens picked up means more lives saved in the long run.

Don’t just rescue the litter. Stop the cycle. STERILISE.

And please don’t expect me to share every adoption post simply because I have these small number of followers. If you’re rescuing responsibly, especially animals who have been dumped or genuinely cannot survive on the streets, I’ll always try to help where I can.

We cannot keep treating the consequences while refusing to address the cause.

I’m fedup of seeing healthy kittens being “rescued”. Every older cat was that size at one point. Pls STOP this. Focus your energies on sterilisation.

I will likely get hate for this and have people chat shit about me but yesterday’s reel and what followed triggered me beyond explanation. Forget the actual post @officialhumansofbombay put up. What disturbed me far more was what came after, this influencer Anushka’s stories. The fact that this is what most people’s mindset is, is SCARY. And before this gets twisted into yet another pointless debate about street dogs/indies vs breeds, this has absolutely nothing to do with that. I never once said only adopt street dogs and indies. No. I am not against breeds. I am against BREEDING. This is about a far bigger, far more uncomfortable question: Why are we still normalising the breeding, buying/selling and gifting of animals as though they are toys?
It is scary & frightening to realise how many people genuinely believe there is nothing wrong with breeding these poor babies endlessly. back-to-back pregnancies. deliberately bringing more lives into a world where countless animals are already abandoned, neglected, abused and desperately waiting for homes.
This is not about whether an animal is a street dog, an indie, a lab, a golden, a persian, a shihtzu. It’s about the HORRIFIC ABUSE the poor mother and father are put through.
Pets are not gifts. not accessories. not status symbols. not products you can purchase to wrap in a basket and gift someone. And then those very same people get rid of these babies when they can’t handle it. shelters and rescues are overflowing and animals are dying without homes and somehow our answer continues to be “let’s bring more animals into existence because someone wants one specific look and type ” and not just in India. WORLDWIDE. THIS IS A SERIOUS CRISIS.
So many people cannot even see the problem.
That this has become so normalised that questioning it is considered extreme and I’m being told to calm down and chill and worry about my own dogs at home. This is deeply concerning. THE MINDSET. This very mindset is the same when it comes to caste, to religion, to everything else.
Absolutely outrageous.

Yesterday was World Animal Welfare Day and my heart is especially full of love which is always is for every rescuer, feeder, foster, adopter, volunteer and animal lover who chooses to care. 🤍

For the people who stop for the injured animal, make space for the abandoned one, wake up at odd hours for an emergency, spend their own money, lose sleep, shed tears, celebrate tiny victories and somehow find the strength to do it all over again.

Rescue isn’t always beautiful. Sometimes it breaks your heart. Sometimes you save them and sometimes, despite everything you do, you lose them. But you keep showing up.

To everyone who has ever opened their home, their wallet, their time or simply their heart to an animal in need thank you. You make this world a little kinder.

Here’s to all of us who love them fiercely, fight for them endlessly and refuse to look away. 🤍
