Who is CRITXX?
CRITXX is an emerging techno DJ based in rural Australia, quietly shaping a distinctive sound far from the traditional centers of electronic music. Though he’s located outside the pulse of Melbourne’s thriving club culture, his passion for techno drives him to stay deeply connected—frequenting events, digging into the underground scene, and preparing for the moment he steps behind the decks live.

His approach to DJing is rooted in storytelling. CRITXX crafts long, evolving sets that explore a wide range of textures—from deep, rolling minimal to harder, high-energy moments. Each mix is carefully curated to build tension, shift moods, and guide the listener on a journey that feels immersive and unpredictable. Whether in headphones or on a dance floor, the goal is always to create a meaningful experience.

CRITXX started his journey in early 2024, initially drawn to the raw energy of hard techno. But as he developed his sound, he found a deeper connection with more classic and stripped-back styles. These forms offered him the creative space to experiment, refine his selections, and focus on flow and atmosphere. While his current direction leans toward these subtler, groove-driven sounds, he still finds inspiration in the intensity of his roots—occasionally weaving in harder elements when the moment feels right.

Living in a rural environment has shaped his musical identity in unexpected ways. The contrast between quiet, open landscapes and the kinetic energy of techno gives his sets a sense of space and emotional contrast. There’s a balance in his approach—one that reflects both introspection and motion, solitude and connection.

Though he hasn’t played live yet, CRITXX is steadily building his presence—honing his craft behind the scenes, releasing mixes, and developing a sound that’s both thoughtful and danceable. With patience, purpose, and a deep respect for the culture, he’s working toward becoming a name to watch in the next wave of Australian techno artists. by @critxxtechno

Our 6th Auth podcast welcomes @critxxtechno — a DJ based in Australia.

Since beginning his journey in early 2024 with a love for hard techno, he has gravitated toward more stripped-back, groove-driven styles, drawing inspiration from both intensity and subtlety.
