Being a second generation Hispanic/Chicano from the San Fernando Valley, this is a dream for me. I always walked by Pacsun as a teen on my “hangouts” at the mall and never felt seen or felt like I could afford what was in there. Now, our Hispanic Heritage collection is in stores reaching people who look like me and people who connect to what/who we are as a brand. The past 10 years have been spent to re-connect with my roots and truly fill that void in my heart that I always felt was missing as a kid. I felt like I had to assimilate in order to succeed and now we are in a place where holding onto where you and your family comes from is beautiful and cherished. My story is my family and my family is the reason I am who I am. Always find your way back home. Super excited to be paired up with @fatdragonla for this year’s @familystylefest 💜 The idea for the Mala Mangonada came to light from a meeting we had with Ivy and Allen from Fat Dragon while trying their Sichuan Orange Chicken (so good btw, you gotta try it) and it dawned on us…can the Sichuan orange sauce and chili flakes make for a good chamoy substitute? Yes, the answer is yes. 🙂‍↔️ While developing it, this idea for a Lavender cream top milk tea slushie came to be, creating the collaborative drinks for the occasion. Then of course came time to design the tee, which was a whole other collaborative runaround as Claudio was in Rome at the time we got the buzzer-beater call we’d be doing the fest. We got our friends and recent collaborators @notkaylynnkim & @christiannlg to execute the art as we all bounced ideas off each other. Originally we were going in the direction of those fat Akira Toriyama dragons he’d stick at the front or end of books for funsies (you know the ones) and then the idea of “what it’s based on The Very Hungry Caterpillar shape?” and our chunky little friend was born. Truly couldn’t do it without the help of friends and those we can call family. We’ll see you all Saturday for slushies and make sure to grab a tee! Haven’t thrown something in a hot minute so this should be fun. This Friday @lavender.xyz will be hosting an event at @lovehourlosangeles , as we celebrate our collection with Pacsun for Hispanic Heritage Month. My identity as a Hispanic/latino plays a huge role in the person I am and have become. From Being passionate, loving love, celebrating every milestone, traditions that I still carry in my day to day, and of course music. Music connects me to points in my childhood or experiences that I hold close to my heart.This collection was heavily inspired by my visits to Ayutla, Jalisco with my primos. Big love to my great grandfather, may he rest in peace. Love to my godson and family over there too. Let’s celebrate life, friendship, small wins, and our roots. Home isn’t always a physical place but also a person or feeling. Let’s have some fun. 💜 by @crodriguez.design

Probably my favorite collection in a while. The positive messaging and focus on mental health has been a crucial part of the brand and a direction we definitely want to keep aligned with, not just in what we do but our way of living. In a world where our minds are going 1000 miles per hour and constantly meeting people daily, life is overwhelming and it’s important to take care of yourself and be to be kind to yourself. Last year we( @studiokoto )worked alongside the team at Activision to help launch one of their most successful FPS games of all time, deliver a robust seasonal identity, animate a franchise mnemonic, replace Ask Jacob on his own billboards, stitch together a merch toolkit, print a map onto sneakers, build five hundred custom RC cars, and a whole lot more.Absolutely loved being a part of such a huge moment for the franchise. World Mental Health day. ✨Mental health plays an incredible and huge role in my life and it’s an investment I don’t regret. I’ve been going to therapy consistently every week for a little over a year. I’ve been treating running as a “must” -finally hit over 300 miles on Strava this year (aiming for 500) and have been getting back into meditation with @headspace + @op_e___n to help with my anxiety + get closer to feeling present a lot more. Dont want to get too much into it but I’ve dealt and been through a lot since childhood and always just found a way to brush everything under the rug. Lavender is about safe place for growth and as a brand that is heavily involved with emotions and mental health, it was really time to fully involve my lifestyle and practice what I preach.For those dealing with mental health problems, seek help, invest in yourself, touch some grass, get some sun. Was invited to speak in front of the Pacsun team today, along with two other talented Latinos for Hispanic heritage month that are changing the culture. Not many moments like this where doors are opened for people like us, so I’m blessed for this opportunity. I was able to speak on mental health, how my mom provided a safe place for me to pursue my passions and how that’s carried into the brand. This was inspired by a past experience and instead of looking at any negative feeling a situation might have, I try to think of the positive memories instead. This was a “thank you” towards that person/moment because it completely reshaped me as an individual. In a way, this can be applied to every relationship, platonic or romantic, anyone has. I try my best to move forward with love through anything I experience or do and I’m forever grateful. Thank You For Loving Me.
