POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
We made our bags! (Okay I made about 80% of our bags and Connor did his best)

On a trip to Italy a few years ago we discussed what the perfect holiday bag would be. Waterproof, big enough for all the essentials plus a deck of cards, secure, and with plenty of parts to attach extras to.

We used rip stop fabric and a thin poly batting to keep them lightweight, and double ended waterproof zips to keep our stuff safe from the rain. We added strips of webbing to the sides to attach caribiners, and a hanging loop, elastic for bottole storage, and a hidden zip up pocket on the back. I think that's everything! We've made great use of these features by attaching all our new trinkets from gatcha machines 🤩

The pattern started off as the Fanny Pack Bag from Proper Fit Clothing, which unfortunately was not a good pattern! We definitely made things difficult for ourselves with the pattern and fabric choices, but they came out great in the end.

Finished my #janevest in time for my holiday 🤠

I love her so much! Possibly one of my favourite knits ever. I hadn't done an intarsia project in years. (weirdly most of my first few projects when I was a teenager were intarsia, and then one of my tutors at college told me it was too advanced, which I guess scared me off the idea 🙄) This was a great way to get back into intarsia knitting. I love that it combines intarsia with duplicate stitch for the details. I've already bought yarn for another @meganfaithmakes vest and can't wait to get started.

These jeans are also a fresh make. They're the @houseofizzie #justmyluckjeans which I made for the first time. I love the shape of these, and the pattern was way easier to make than I expected. taken in Osaka, Japan by @crookedpins

My last summer sewing projects are complete ♥️

Matching @spaghetti_western_sewing #swsornella and @sewliberated #arthurpants set, in a gorgeous inen from @fabricgodmother

Inspired by @sometimes_a_great_notions brown version. I removed the seams in the middle of the legs from the trousers, and removed my usual 5cm from both the rise and leg.

I love this set and wish I'd made it sooner (aka when it was actually warm enough) and I'll probably make another pair of trousers with the seams removed as they were so quick to make!

Also wearing my new tiramisu hat! I've had the idea in my head for a while, and bought a custom patch on eBay and a cheap cap to bring it to life ☕ by @crookedpins

An almost finished @meganfaithmakes #janevest

A scrappy @libe.kbh #polkahue that is almost certainly going to be way too big for my head

@summer.lee.knits #scatteredpearlsocks that were meant to be a Christmas gift and still aren't finished 😶

And a red baby cardigan I've been working on for so long that the baby it's for is almost definitely too big for it now 🫪 by @crookedpins

Took my Shortugals to Portugal 🇵🇹

One of my fave places to buy fabric and notions is on holiday! The tea towels I made these shorts from were from our first trip to Portugal. I also made the bag for a trip to Italy, using bias binding I bought in Australia.

Me-made wedding outfits, Portugal edition 🐅

My dress is a @truebias #truebiaslora and Connor's shirt is @merchantandmills #mmallstate as always.

This was my first time making this pattern, and my first time trying projector sewing! I'll definitely be making this pattern again, but not sure on the projector sewing as I had to do a lot of finagling to get the projection good enough in my flat which apparently has very wonky floors 😵‍💫

The fabric is from @rainbowfabricskilburn and I have a good amount leftover, so will definitely be making another matching piece soon - a matching sun hat at the very least

Also shout out to this vintage beaded bag I got in Valencia two weeks ago, which made it as far as the cake cutting before falling apart and sending beads skittering across the dancefloor ⚫⚪

Went to Valencia to watch the eclipse, and of course made some new clothes for the trip 🌙

My fave summer pattern combo - @vikisews Cynthia shirt in white linen, and @fridaypatterncompany Saguaro shorts made out of tea towels from a trip to Portugal a couple of years ago. I call them my Shortugals

Plus my trusty @sophie_hines Axis tank of course

Swipe for some eclipse pics 😎

Wiggly me-made top, with my wiggly me-made mug, for a lil picnic in the park. Featuring wrinkled linen trousers because it's too hot to iron.

This is the second of my post Me Made May projects - an #ornellatop in a block print fabric I've had in my stash for a year. I've wanted to sew this top for a while and didn't consider this fabric until I really thought about making more tops after Me Made May - but they're a match made in heaven!

Also this mug is the latest in my quest to make a BIG MUG - she's big but she's also heavy, so the quest continues. I mixed the colours myself which took an hour, by which point I was bored and annoyed so slapped it together at the end of pottery class. I also made some nerikomi plates with the same colours, which I took a lot more care over - excited to see how these come out!

The first of my new post Me Made May creations!

You may have seen the progress of this @helens__closet Ashton top in my stories. I knew I wanted a frayed hem on these, and initially just cut the pattern out as-is, with a straighened hem. This came out looking really dull, so I looked back at some inspo and decided to slash into the centre, and cut off a section on the bottom, sew it back together, and add decorative topstitching.

This came out so cute! I used the facing pattern pieces as a guide for where to cut the bottom. I recut the neckline afterwards, as I lost 4cm overall from the neckline when I sewed the pieces together.

Worn with my leopard print #coetrousers 🐆

Swipe for the before pic, and my inspo pinterest board.

My takeaways from Me Made May!

I always come to the same conclusion at the end of #memademay - I need more cute tops! I usually add a couple to my rotation every year, but this year I'm going to make more of an effort to make sure go into summer with some new handmade tops that work with my existing wardrobe.

Here's what I want to make:

- Ashton top - I'd like to make a denim version with a raw hem. This is going to be a simple scrapbusting project, and I think I'll wear it a lot

- Patchwork bandana vest - I bought loads of bandanas to make a quilted bag, but had  the idea to make a reversible patchwork vest with side ties - I think I'll hack the Ashton top for this

- Ornella blouse - I have some wavy striped Indian block print cotton that will be perfect!

- Garden blouse - I saw so many cute versions of this blouse throughout May! I'd love a white/cream version, and a dress too if I'm brave enough!

- Wavy collared blouse - something statement in a cotton poplin, maybe I'll try using a decorative stitch on the edge of the collar

- Jane vest - I cast this on a few weeks ago, but have been trying to finish my scrappy cardigan before continuing. She'll be so good for layering!

- White linen shirt - this is on my to make list every summer, but I always get distracted by cute prints and colours. I love the two Cynthia shirts I've made already, so will probably use this pattern

- My new matching set has really reminded me how much I love a co-rd. I'd love to recreate this Ornella / Arthur set by @sometimes_a_great_notions but in pink

I'll start with the projects I already have fabric stashed for, and hopefully have the rest finished for summer. Let's see how many I actually end up making! by @crookedpins
