Oh am I filled to the brim with love and gratitude for all you beautiful souls that showed up at our workshop yesterday. Wow! It was so fun, so many great connections and some new friends made too. I know I will be following everyone's journeys with interest. We went DEEP on soil and the land beneath our feet, from diagnosing leaves to determine mineral deficiencies, to what balancing pH really does for the plant, effective soil sampling, analysing tests and everything in between. I also loved rummaging around our food forest and flower farm, digging up bits to share and swapping knowledge on growing food, flowers, fruit and more. I learnt heaps from listening to everyone's journeys, and also to CROP's soil scientist Jake who is such an inspiring individual and pretty funny too. Thank you to you all for showing up, and trusting us with your investment of money and time. I really am so excited to see your growing spaces evolve with this guidance and will be following with so much interest. 🥰

Before you decide to expand your growing area, I beg you to watch this.

Expanding might not be the key.

Working out how to maximize the most out of your current growing space is what you should be focusing on.

You don't need size to get more stems, more variety, longer harvests and more crops to give you options when disease or insects strike.

Work with all the hard work you have already put in.

Start with the soil. Get a test, even if it's looking amazing out there. Why hold back on maximizing what you already have?

Visit the CROP Soil Test Hub to find out more. taken in CROP Flower Farm by @cropraglan

Oh how lovely to pick these blooms today in the beautiful Winter sun. So much to be grateful for, not just for all the flowers that continue to bust out their best for us. But also for my hubby who is my best supporter always...this song was from our wedding 🥰 taken in CROP Flower Farm by @cropraglan

If you're wanting to come on our Soil Test Workshop on 29 August, don't delay! We are getting very close to full. If you want to get a soil test done with the company we recommend, Brookside, we will need your sample in the next few days. But if you can't get it together by then, you can also do this with Hills directly. But speak to us first or visit our web site so we can advise you which test to get at Hills (not just the Basic!). taken in CROP Flower Farm by @cropraglan

Well I had pretty much given up on the small Flowering Kale bed, a newbie for me this season. It got absolutely sabotaged by Madame White Butterfly and her hungry babies which literally stripped it to the stems.

I was so annoyed, especially after forking out for the expensive seedlings, double netting, weeding relentlessly, spraying with all the good stuff.... so much manual labour! But, as with a lot of things on the farm, I just ran out of time to flip the bed.

And a few weeks later, they had sprung back to life.

My suspicion is the soil managed to throw up what was needed for these super hungry feeders as I think they literally received the worst CROP attention ever.

They have been incredible despite their super wonky stems and green markings and totally on my hit list for next season again. Such excellent focal flowers at this time of year when there is not much out there at all.

I do have to laugh as I fully believe next year they will be perfect with long straight stems, and beautiful unmarked heads and I'll have infinite time to dote on them 🤣 Let's see. taken in CROP Flower Farm by @cropraglan

Oooh la la la! Flowers in Winter. Look at these Mad Butts! (My affectionate name for Snapdragon Madame Butterflies). I bloody love 'em! Must be good soil and warm Winter weather, I am thinking. Not cropping like a summertime harvest for sure, but beautiful blooms nonetheless. Now... when's that downtime gonna happen? 🤣 P.s hit me up if you wanna know when I planted these plugs in Raglan to get blooms now. Hint... It felt like absolute months ago!!!!! taken in CROP Flower Farm by @cropraglan

Vibrancy. Abundance. Health. Are you missing any of these magic three? Come join us for 7 hours and we guarantee to help you supercharge your growing space, whether that's a flower farm, orchard, garden, food forest, vege patch or paddock. Yes, folks, we are doing it again! Our 'Understanding Your Soil Test' workshop. This is more than simply a workshop about tests. It's an opportunity to give your growing space the start it needs for the 2026/2027 season. Stop guessing! We will help you truly understand what your plot needs. It starts with the land beneath your feet.

Sat 29 August. Limited spots. Some gone already.

P.S. When I typed 'soil' into my Google AI photo prompt, this is the photo it came up with! I reckon if AI knows that a stellar crop comes from a healthy soil, then that's a win for womankind! taken in CROP Flower Farm by @cropraglan

Oh my happy days! Thank you so much to all you wonderful beings out there who supported our family business last night (and this morning!). I am actually in awe, given there is so much choice out there. 🌟

Our CROP POP Dahlia Tuber Presale was our best ever, yippee, and it couldn't have come at a better time for our whanau. We heart you all. Over and over!

Don't forget - we offer Combined Shipping, just send us your order numbers you want shipped together to save on postage costs.

If you've bought 8 or more tubers, you automatically go into the 'Wish List Groupie' list for next year 🏆, meaning you simply email us your desires from our shop and we try to make it happen. It's a win-win for us all! And that's what is so awesome about this industry... we're all just trying to spread the love (whilst putting food on the table obvs!).

Send us pics of your babies in bloom once you have your tubers in the ground. After all, those are our grandkids! by @cropraglan
