RRC Polytech’s Student Association has hired Ricardo Martinez, 49, and Buchi Mkanda, 36, to be the head coaches of the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

They are the first hires since it was announced in January that the Student Association would be revamping RRC Polytech’s athletic program thanks to over 1,000 students who signed a petition last fall.

2025 may be ending, but the memories and lessons learned will last. In our 10th year, we've faced elite competition, celebrated tournament wins, built a vibrant community, and given back through fundraisers, and community events. We've helped players grow and thrive through our camps and club training programs, and we've met so many incredible people along the way. And while we've faced plenty of challenges and a few setbacks, we're using them as opportunities to learn and improve, so that we can continue to be better for the upcoming years. Thank you all for being a part of the journey!

Thanks to our coaches for the HUNDREDS of hours they put into training their teams - Coach Jeff, Coach Jayson, Coach Kris, Coach Jimmy, Coach Richard, Coach Prad, Coach Geoff, Coach Steph and Coach Wilf!.

Thank you to our amazing admin team for organizing so many fundraisers, tournaments, volunteer events and social events! Ally, Mike, Angela, and the small army of parent volunteers who work tables, provide food and services and who show up to provide the community with the best experiences possible.

Thanks to our partners @basketballmb and @pegcityball for continuing to support and promote the work we do.

But most of all, thanks to all the families who continue to find value in our training. All the work we do would be impossible without the faith our families place in our simple mission of helping our kids grow their love of the game.

We welcome 2026 and gladly leave 2025 behind as history.

@bballnationals was a blast. Thanks to all the athletes who sacrificed a summer away from friends, family and work to make this trip a possibility. Special thanks to @dkhan.23 @cameronk.10 @anbu_nifem @seth______4 for joining our squad for this one! To all my 08s, you are forever in our hearts - can’t wait to see all the ways in which you bring positive change into this world! Thanks to @_.ally.victor._ and @girlboss_event_planner for the help in planning all the little details that we would otherwise have missed. And to Coach @krisglass85, always a pleasure to work with someone who is dedicated and willing to step up to help these kids learn and gain new experiences in life. #xvrfam #crossover204 #crossoverbasketball #xvrhoops #fyp by @crossover204

This ranks up there in the category of “Most Dangerous Plays” I’ve ever seen on a basketball court and I believe it should have been an ejection, personally. But what do you think? Was an Unsportsmanlike 1 foul enough? Was it too much? Or was it just right? #crossover204 #crossoverbasketball #xvrhoops #youdecide @bballnationals by @crossover204
