What advice would you give this aspiring pilot?

The hardest part of becoming a pilot isn’t the flying...

It’s the hours of studying, the waiting for your next lesson, the cost of every hour in the air, the weather cancellations, the exams, the checkrides, and wondering how much longer it’s going to take or if you can even do this. The flying is the part you dreamed about. The rest is the part that teaches you how badly you want it.

Waiting for permission to feel like a real pilot?

The funny thing about pilot training is that you technically become a pilot pretty early on. Once you’ve submitted your application to the FAA and received your student pilot certificate, you’re officially in it. But there’s a big difference between being a pilot and actually feeling like one. That part takes time. You’re learning, making mistakes, second-guessing yourself, and slowly getting more comfortable in the cockpit.

One day, somewhere along the way, you’ll realize you stopped thinking of yourself as someone who’s learning to fly and started thinking, “Oh… I’m a pilot.”

Until then, give yourself some credit. You’re already on your way 😉 by @crosswindculture

Crosswind Culture is for the people who love aviation, but also understand everything that comes with it; the hard work, the uncertainty, the excitement, the friendships, and that feeling of finally finding people who just get it 🧡

So wear the shirt, show up at the airport, and know there’s a whole community out there figuring it out alongside you! by @crosswindculture

The process: expensive, humbling, mildly chaotic, and occasionally makes you question every life decision that brought you here 😂

There’s a side of becoming a pilot that nobody really talks about. The part where you’ve flown dozens of hours but still don’t feel like a real pilot. Where everyone else seems more confident on the radio. Where you wonder if you’re progressing normally, or if you’re somehow falling behind. Where you’re scared to ask questions because you don’t want to look like the dumbest person in the room. Where you wish you had aviation friends. Not networking connections, actual friends who get it. And sometimes, there’s the financial pressure too. When you’ve invested thousands into flight training, it can feel like you have to make it work meanwhile everyone around you seems to be moving forward in completely different ways.

Here’s what we want you to know:
👉 You’re not the only one having these thoughts.
👉 You’re not behind.
👉 You’re not an imposter.
👉 And you’re definitely not the only one figuring it out as you go.

This is the stuff we should be talking about!! by @crosswindculture

All those early mornings, long days at the airport, lessons that didn’t go the way you wanted, and the moments where you wondered if you were really cut out for this 😩

And then, little by little, you kept going. There’s something pretty special about being able to look at your shirt and know exactly what it represents.

Check out the link in our bio for our pretty cool collection of aviation tees ✈️
