Hey San Francisco. We are building a movement for Theatre for Public Good and we are not alone. A coalition of theatres from across the country just joined forces in Boston: » Cleveland Public Theatre, Ohio @cptcle » Company One Theatre, Massachusetts @companyoneboston » Crowded Fire Theater, California @crowdedfire (👈️that's us!) » A Host of People, Michigan @ahostofpeople » Junebug Productions, Louisiana @junebugnola » Mixed Blood Theatre, Minnesota @mixedbloodtheatre » Mosaic Theater Company, Washington DC @mosaictheaterdc » Out of Hand, Georgia @outofhandatl » Perseverance Theatre, Alaska @perseverancetheatre » Pillsbury House + Theatre, Minnesota @phousetheatre » Pink Fang, New York @pinkfangnyc What is a Theatre for Public Good? A Theatre for Public Good uses its space, craft, and convening power to strengthen community health and inspire community action towards building a more equitable democracy. We're committed to . . . » practicing equity as structure » building real power with the people we serve » treating culture as a right, not a privilege » leveraging artistic excellence toward a greater good, beyond the stage » managing its finances as public infrastructure » measuring community impact that matters Theatre for Public Good started in March 2024, when 5 values-aligned, multi-racial theatres (Cleveland Public, Company One, Crowded Fire, Mosaic, and Perseverance) formed a cohort around a shared question: as social justice theatres, what can we do together that we cannot do alone? After two years of convening and a framework presented at the TCG National Conference in June 2026, 11 theatres met in Boston this September to begin launching a national movement. What does Theatre for Public Good mean to you? As we say goodbye to MANNING, we are left with so much gratitude. To our artists and collaborators, volunteers and staff, and to our audiences who were with us every single night. You took the time to be in community with us and each other, to share your loved ones in your hearts and into the room, and to continue conversing and connecting the moment the play was over. Together we explored the multitudes of grief, masculinity, legacy, and transformation. We asked: what are we nurturing? How do we honor those we’ve lost? Those who are still here? How do we honor ourselves? “pues it’s all a cycle no? birth life death rebirth” So what next? As Ana says, “follow the roots back up.” Follow the roots back up into your homes, lives, and communities. Let your experiences with this beautiful script and production transform you and everyone you speak to about it. “siempre alcanzando (always reaching) hasta la comida (up to the food) hasta la luz (up to the light) creciendo (growing) creciendo (growing) creciendo (growing)” ✨️Thank you ✨️ by @crowdedfire
