Last year, Justin & I experienced a loss with our first pregnancy. I ended up miscarrying on Justin’s birthday, right before Christmas. What was usually my favorite time of year was all of the sudden dark. What was usually the most joyous time of year, had just become the most painful season we’d ever walked through.

But God. He will surely never leave you. He will be by your side, every step of the way. Even in the valley of the shadow of death. God used tragedy to grow our hearts closer together, and ultimately closer to His. He gave us newfound perspective. And most importantly, He holds our child in His arms until the day we will get to meet face to face.

Justin & I are normally pretty private people and don’t like to share a lot publicly, but felt it was important to share the full story in case anyone else may be walking through a similar season. I share this as we are now walking in victory. For anyone out there that has experienced loss, whether it’s with a child, fertility, or just wondering if God doesn’t care about your pain in what you’re walking through. I promise you, He does! He held me in His arms every time I cried myself to sleep. He mended my broken heart. And He never left my side. We don’t have the most tragic story out there, but we are a walking testament of God’s faithfulness in the valley.

He has given us this precious gift, a new miracle of life, that we couldn’t be more honored to steward as her parents! We will always love and miss our first child, until we meet one day. In the mean time, we are so incredibly thrilled for our blessing on the way! We cannot wait to meet you in February, baby girl 🩷

This has to be one of the best feelings I’ve had in a while. In 2016 coming out of college, I was 34k in debt with not a ton of direction. Basketball had just ended, I got my first job and although I’ve been grateful for employment, I soon noticed that this couldn’t be it for my life. I’d always been taught that connections are everything (funny how rarely people use them) but I sought out on a path to find people who could help me get the results I was looking for. I’ll never forget the first dinner I had with someone (now my coach) who has been independently wealthy for the last 30 years. I had $12 in my account, not sure what I was going to be able to afford on the menu 😂. He taught me mentality and principles I’ll never forget. “If you learn to think how I think, you can create the results I have and if you can’t buy 3 of something, then don’t buy it at all.” I took that information and set out on a journey to being very disciplined. I’m happy to say due to wise counsel and a good support system that I’m 100% debt free and owe nothing but love to people! #LenderNOTTheBorrower by @crowder_jc

Lately, I’ve been able to take a step back and smell the roses. Honestly, because of how I’m wired, that’s one of the hardest things for me to do. Thankfully, I have a wife who loves coffee dates, is an incredible listener, and is able to offer valuable perspective in different situations.

Recently, someone asked me, “You spend a lot of effort driving and flying for your corporate career, and then I see you spending late nights mentoring and coaching people in business. Do you ever get tired?”

The answer is no.

The relationships you forge along the way are what matter most. My life has drastically changed because of great coaches, and it is my duty to pay it forward.

I wish some people knew how fulfilling it is to lead someone to Christ, help men become better fathers and leaders in the home, strengthen marriages, walk alongside someone as they become completely debt free, and most importantly, encourage people to dream bigger dreams. Those are the reasons I’ll never get tired. I’ll stay in the trenches and keep improving myself so I can continue to improve others.

Shoutout to all my guys, pictured and not pictured (you know who you are). You all make me better 💯💪🏾 by @crowder_jc

Since we were kids, we always felt the pull to go into business for ourselves! As a young girl, Caroline would post up in the neighborhood for hours and sell lemonade, I was the kid who would go door to door selling candy to raise money for basketball camps! Little did we know that the skills, abilities, and more importantly the mentality we developed as young-in’s would carry over into our adulthood as we scale a company for ourselves! Competition is fun, we welcome it; not with others, but with ourselves!

This past weekend, we truly got better. It always refreshing to be around some of the best business owners in the country learning how to effectively communicate, develop executive presence, maximize profitability, etc.! “Winning is more fun than fun is fun.” by @crowder_jc

It’s hard to put into words what I got to experience this past week! Growing up, I was the kid that would pull up highlights of Penny Hardaway, go in my driveway, do the 3-2-1 countdown and shoot the step back at the buzzer! (In my mind, I never lost a game 😅) I was the kid who would study other greats like Jameer Nelson to figure out what moves he would use to shake loose and get his shot off as a small guard!

Where I’m from, opportunities like this don’t happen often. Never in a million years would I have even thought that I’d have a chance to rub shoulders with some of the NBA’s best players, have a Q&A with Michael Forde, the Chief Sales Officer of the Orlando Magic, or hoop on an NBA floor!

I’ve always said it and it’ll be the one thing that you’ll continuously hear me mention if you’re around me! “Don’t be afraid to chase your dream, always be genuine with people, and understand that making the right connections will get you in doors you otherwise wouldn’t be able to get yourself into!” You never know what’s on the other side of handshakes! Thankful for the entrepreneurial community I’ve earned access to!

My first year out of college, I remember having a conversation with an older gentleman telling him that “I vowed to never read another book again.” I said that like I was wearing it as a badge of honor, smh! He then looked at me with a straight face, no smile or anything, and said “Then you’re dead.” I looked at him dumbfounded, not knowing what to say next as he left me with these words! “You’re worth millions of dollars from the neck up, and if I were you, I’d keep reading and associating with the right people. Go and get this book. If you buy it with your own money, you’ll appreciate the material even more!” Come to find out, I was speaking to a very successful man after asking staff who this guy was on the campus! — Moral of the story, you never know who you’re talking to! I’m glad he schooled me that day. That was the fastest I’ve ever drove to Barnes and Noble after that conversation. 😂 by @crowder_jc

As Caroline and I reflect, it was an honor and a privilege to speak this past weekend to 300+ entrepreneurs across the world on the topic of “playing to win” in business. I’ve heard it said before that “entrepreneurship is a personal growth engine disguised as a business pursuit.” That statement has certainly been true for us for the last 5 years. Through seeking counsel and perspective from people who have results we want, we’ve figured out how to win in the areas of personal and professional development, finances, spiritual growth, and most importantly our marriage. She and I have no doubt in our mind that our success comes from the good Lord above. We’ll continue to impact people in all the days of our life. I am a firm believer that you retire from careers, not callings!

For those who don’t know me, I am very particular on who I allow to influence me when it comes to marriage, mentally, physically, spiritually, and financially. As I reflect on my childhood, I remember my mom planting seed of scripture such “Judge a tree by its fruit” or long car rides with my dad to AAU games and him having humility to say “ Justin, as a father my job is never done no matter how old you get. If I am here, I’ll always be here for you. Some things I’ll have the answers to but there’s a lot that I don’t know. In that case you’ll need to seek other people.” Looking back that was POWERFUL but, in that moment,, it probably seemed to them as I chalked it up as another lecture but, I had no true-life scenarios to apply what they were saying at that time.

As I’ve gotten older, those teachings and many others have been my internal guide. I’ve discovered the importance of going outside of my family tree to seek true mentorship and what that encompasses in all areas of life. One of my favorite business owners Mark Cuban said that “having a mentor can save you years of time wasted” because it helps you to dodge potholes they hit, access their brain by reading what they’ve read and ultimately get in doors you wouldn’t be able to get yourself into. I found this to be true as seasons of my life have come and gone. Thank you, mom, and dad, for the freedom to fail but also the humility to understand that “It takes a village” to help one become successful.

Oh yeah! Here’s a treat for my book lovers. This is one of the most well written books I’ve read. It challenged my thinking and brough about a lot of reflection. I’ll add a few highlights of what stood out to me! I overheard my mentor mention this to someone awhile back, so I had to pick it up. He should of known I was listening! 😉#Grateful! by @crowder_jc
